“Hello?”

A small petite voice answered the phone with a hint of a British accent.  Cat and I stayed silent waiting to see who would decide to speak first to the mysterious unknown voice we just dialled.

“Hello? Is anyone there?” the voice questioned again before I decided to speak up, as we had to start somewhere like every conversation we have had.

“Hi”, I mumbled uncertainly, “It’s Rose and Cat”. Cat hadn’t even bothered to say anything yet. It was her idea 7 years ago to do this random call thing and it always started in the same awkward way with only me talking.

Great

“Sorry but whom? I think you have the wrong number sorry. I don’t know any Rose’s or Cat’s”, she wondered confused.

“Actually, we just called a random number in hope for a conversation. It’s a tradition” Cat stated into the speaker before sitting back on the couch hoping for the best. We always started in this awkward way which always made us laugh after but never get any better at it.

“Oh okay then, well I’m Jamie, it’s nice to meet you in this… peculiar situation. I haven’t actually heard of such a tradition before” she replied with humour in her voice before letting out a laugh.

It wasn’t long before we were all chatting away like good friends as she was such a nice person with a bit of poshness and a British accent which we loved! We found out she moved from London when she was 12 to Sydney, and she still kept a bit of her Britishness as she travelled over quite often. I was so glad we were having such a great time as I knew Cat needed some cheering up as tomorrow was the day.

Every year, the day after our annual shaving cream fight, it was the anniversary of Catherine’s parent’s car crash. Around the time of the anniversary, Cat was very emotional which was expected of her as who wouldn’t have been?!

After her parents died, she had been taken in by her grandparents, Nanna and Popappa, who looked after her till the day she left home with me so we could finally do everything we wanted. We were both quite reluctant leaving but we both knew it was time to be independent.

Right now, Cat seemed distracted by the call and was smiling, making me a bit more confident that she was getting less affected by the date as they years went on.

Focusing again, I kept talking to our new friend Jamie. Knowing we used our area code, I realised Jamie couldn’t live to far away then, meaning if she was willing, we could hang out sometime which I’m sure Cat and I would love, as we needed more friends than just each other!

“So Jamie, where are you from?” I questioned as I put my feet on the coffee table before taking a sip of ice cold water. We had been talking for quite a while now so it was getting late in the afternoon.

“I’m actually from Manly in Sydney. What about you? I see you must live close by too?” She replied wondering just like we had been.

Cat and I were also located just near the coast on Manly in a quaint apartment by the beach that fit everything we needed. We had both chipped in for paying for the apartment then things like groceries and more. It worked out well has we both had small jobs. Mine being working in a newsagent on the wharf of Manly and Cat’s being that she worked as a barista in a café.

“We actually just live in Manly too at the coastline! Maybe we should meet up some time? We’ve enjoyed talking to you on the phone and loners like Cat and I need more friends”, I joked into the phone before Cat gave me a humorous glare.

“Sure, sounds great! I’ll add your number into my contacts soon but I can’t do this week as I have to travel quite a bit due to my boyfriend but I don’t mind. How about we organise for next week?” she suggested before Cat and I nodded to each other.

Nothing new was happening like always so why the hell not!

“Sounds great, we better get going so we will text you later the details. It’s pizza night for us so bye!” I concluded before receiving a final bye from Jamie and hanging up the phone.

I smiled forgetting about all my past problems for now but a pang of guilt hit me as I forgot to call my dad. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket texting him saying I would call after dinner before telling Cat I was getting the pizza and leaving but not forgetting to put my wig back on.

Upon arriving at the pizza parlour, I ordered the pizza before sitting on the couches they provided in the lobby. This is what I loved about this place, instead of having hard chairs to sit on, they had big couches which you could just plop on and relax.

Knowing it was a while before my pizza would be ready; I skimmed down tumblr on my phone before a certain post captured my attention. Hang on; it was that Luke Hemmings guy on stage in front of an enormous crowd in a stadium. I never knew he was that big but it doesn’t mean I was going to damn respect him and treat him like a god like other people may have done. 'That is where he must’ve got his big ego from', I thought.

Just as I was going back to surf my phone with my headphones in, a black van abruptly screeched to a halt outside the pizza parlour before a bulky man in black opened the van sliding door, revealing a person in a black hoodie. They quickly ran inside to the safety of the parlour before the bulky man went to talk to some staff of the store including the manager.

After talking for a minute, the manager nodded before going to the door and turning the closed sign around then locking it.

Confused, I thought to 'myself what the hell was going on?!' I just wanted my pizza then to get the hell out, not get stuck in some kidnapping or anything else.

Sighing like I do a lot, I got up and decided to ask what was going on, as I wasn’t in the mood for this type of shit. I was having a great day and didn’t want it ruined by this thing which I didn’t know anything about.

Taking out my headphones which were playing Arctic Monkeys, I got up and walked over to the boy in the dark hoodie who looked up to me wondering what I was doing. He had dark brown eyes and dark brown hair with a blonde streak in the front. Wait, I recognised this dude like I had with Luke. Wasn’t he….

“Excuse me but what the hel-“unexpectedly, I was rudely cut off by the sound of a hoard of teenage girls who ran down the street screaming before stopping right at the pizza parlour. Looking back to the boy shocked, he looked annoyed at the sight of all the girls. Ignoring what I had just tried to say, he mumbled what sounded like got to go, then ran off to the buff guy.

Great, now I was stuck in a pizza parlour, locked in without my pizza and to top it off, it was surrounded by screaming teenage girls who wouldn’t shut up. If this wasn’t ruining my day, I don’t know what was.

I put back in my headphones and decided to call Cat to notify her of the current events I was experiencing.

Dialling her number, I waiting until it started ringing but only received her voicemail. Great, in the one time I urgently needed to speak to her, of course she didn’t answer. Classic Cat.

Putting Blink-182 on, I looked out the windows on the parlour to see the swarms of teenage girls staring at me with jealously in their eyes. I was just here to get my pizza, not start war with crazy fan girls.

I saw one girl give me the finger so I happily returned the gesture with a sarcastic smile as well. If they wanted to play dirty, play on.

After ignoring my surroundings for a while longer, the manager walked over and began apologising about what was happening, and then explained that I would get my pizza free as compensation. At least that was a plus of this whole damn situation.

Turns out the guy Calum Hood is in a famous band mate with Mr Want My Shaving Cream, known as Luke Hemmings.

It didn’t seem like the hormonal girls would be leaving anytime soon, which meant Calum hood also wouldn’t, concluding I was trapped unless they freed me.

Great.
