An alarm goes off. A young man tosses and turns in his bed refusing to get up. A woman enters his room and says: "It's time to get up, you have school." The young man speaks: "I don't feel like it." The woman sighs: "Come on, Walker, you need to get up." Walker sighs: "Fine, I'm getting up mom." Walker's mom smiles and leaves the room. He gets up and heads to his closet to get his uniform to wear for school. as he was changing he felt a huge pain wash over him. He thinks to himself Not now, I don't have much time until the bus comes. The pain intensifies and Walker lets out a scream. His mother came running in with a vial of painkillers for him. She took two out and rolled him over on his side to put the pills in his mouth. After a couple of minutes pass the pain goes away and Walker just lays there relaxing. His mother gets up and leaves the room, leaving him to finish getting dressed and ready for school. Walker gets up and finishes getting dressed and leaves his room with his backpack. He runs past the living room, saying bye to his mom and dad, and heads outside to his bus stop.
When Walker arrived at the bus stop he saw his neighbor, Susan Williams. Walker spoke: "Hey Susan, how are you today?" Susan looked at Walker and said: "Good morning, Walker I'm doing good so far." Walker chuckled: "That's good to hear." As they were waiting for the bus, Susan looked at Walker and noticed he was breathing heavily. Susan spoke: "You had another attack today, didn't you?" Walker smiled and said: "Yeah, but I'll be fine, I took some meds earlier. I just wish the doctors could figure out what's wrong with me. I've had this problem since I was born, and it seems to worse with each passing day. Today was the worst attack yet." Suan was quiet for a minute, then spoke: "Hm, it's odd. Oh, isn't your birthday tomorrow? You also need to fix your uniform as well." She sighs and walks to him and fixes his uniform. Walker smiles and says: "Thanks, for fixing my uniform and for remembering my birthday." Susan smiles and speaks: "No problem, Walker." The bus arrives just as she finished talking. They get on the bus sit down, Susan sits down with a friend, and Walker sits alone and listens to music.
The bus arrives at school and all the kids get off and go to their lockers. Walker removes his backpack, stops his music and shuts his phone off and puts it away. he thought to himself It's been a while since I've seen Susan smile, she looked cute. He signs closes his locker and goes to the cafeteria to get some breakfast. As he eats breakfast two people walk up and sit down at his table. He looks up to see his friends Danny Coleman and Jack Morris. Jack speaks up: "Susan fixed your uniform again didn't she?" He nods while eating. Danny comments: "Lucky, one of the hottest girls in school lives next door to you and she fixes your uniform every morning you don't put on properly." He only shrugs. Walker remembers something very important. His head falls to the table. Danny and Jack ask: "What's wrong?" He responds: "I forgot to make my lunch, I guess I won't be eating lunch today." Susan and her friends walk up. One of Susan's friends says: "What's wrong with him?" Danny Responds: "He forgot to make his lunch this morning, so he has to go without." Susan sighs and drops two lunch boxes on the table. Everyone looks at the bags to see each one had a name on it, one said Susan, the other said Walker. He lifts his head and grabs the one with his name on it. He smiles and says: "Thanks for this, but you didn't have to." Susan flicks him in the head and says: "When I heard you screaming last night, I figured it would happen again and you would forget something. If you don't take care of yourself, you can't keep your promise to me." He smiled and spoke: "I will keep my promise to you, Susan, no matter what." Susan smiles. At that moment a pain more intense than the one this morning washed over him. His head fell to the table as he was clutching his chest. the group, except for Susan's friends, immediately knew what was happening. Danny and Jack rushed to the nurse's office while Susan stayed by his side. One of Susan's friends asks: "What's happening to him?" Susan responded with concern in her voice: "It's his condition, it causes him great pain whenever it hits. no one knows what it is. He said he was fine today, did it overtake his meds?" Danny and Jack returned with the nurse, so she can examine him. The nurse speaks: "Someone bring him to the nurse's office now, He needs some room!!!!!" Danny and Jack carry him to the nurse's office and place him on a bed. Walker let out a scream of agony that echoed throughout the room. The nurse gave him some meds to quell the pain. After a few minutes of agony, the pain settled and he passed out.
Walker wakes up in a meadow near a lake, surrounded by a forest and mountains. He looks around in confusion wondering where he was. As he walked for hours he found out he was alone in this place. It was then he heard a screech and a roar echoed from somewhere. Just then everything was lit ablaze. Two shadowy creatures appeared and towered over Walker. He shouted in concern: "What are you guys? What do you want with me?" One of the creatures spoke: "We are here to warn you, you and your friends are in danger if you do not do something." The two creatures disappeared after one was finished speaking. He reached out his hand shouting: "Wait who's going to attack? Who are you guys? Hold on!!!!" He woke up in the Nurse's office with his hand reaching towards the ceiling. His hand fell across his forehead and he laid there gasping for a minute. He looked around the office to see if anyone was there. When he looked to his side he saw Susan laying with her head down, holding his left hand. He felt at peace so he closed his eyes and continued to sleep.
Around lunchtime Danny, Jack, and Susan's friends came into the nurse's office and saw them resting peacefully. Danny Spoke up: "As much as we'd hate to, we have to interrupt this heart touching scene. Come on, time to wake up." Walker wakes up after Danny finishes speaking. Walker gets up, but can't leave the bed because Susan won't wake up. He shakes her gently. Susan wakes up and looks at her hand. Embarrassed, she quickly lets go of his hand and sits up straight. He smiles and says: "Let's go eat some lunch, alright?" Susan smiled. He and Susan stood up and walked to the cafeteria with the others. They found an empty table and sat down to eat. As they were eating a random person walked up to them and asked to join them. Danny, Jack, and the girls agreed. Walker didn't care and continued eating. Danny laughs and says: "Wow you are eating like a beast dude, I guess it makes sense considering you didn't get to finish breakfast." The random person speaks up: "So you were the guy missing in class today. I'm Ezekiel Wright, but call me Zeke." He stops eating for a minute and says: "Nice to meet you, Zeke, I'm Walker Price." Zeke smiles and says: "So, why weren't you in class?" Walker speaks after taking a bite: "It's not polite to ask someone you don't know about their personal life, but if you wish to know, ever since I was born I get sudden attacks of pain, and not a single doctor can figure out why. That's why I was in the nurse's office." Zeke has no idea what to say to that, so he decides to change the subject. Zeke looks at the girls and asks: "So what are your names?" Susan speaks up: "I'm Susan Williams, nice to meet you." One of Susan's friends introduces herself next: "I'm Jennifer Cook, I also go by Jen." The other friend is the last to introduce herself: "I'm Annabell Scott, but everyone calls me Anna." While they were chatting a bit He felt a small pain wash over him, Susan, Danny, and Jack notice and start asking questions. Walker reassures them: "I'm fine, it's not as bad as it was earlier." Zeke noticed something and asked: "Are those two a couple?" Everyone just shrugs. The bell rings and everyone heads to class.
After school as everyone heads to the buses. Walker and Susan are walking and chatting. He asks: "Are you coming over for the party tomorrow?" Susan replies: "Sure, can I bring my friends?" He states: "I don't care if they come." As they got on the bus they sit down, Susan next to her friend and Walker sits alone listening to music and reading a book. As the bus was about to leave a kid came running up to the bus screaming "WAIT FOR ME!!" The bus stops and opens the door. Zeke runs onto the bus. Zeke says while catching his breath: "This is bus Twenty right?" The bus driver nods. Zeke says while smiling: "Cool, here's my address." The bus driver spoke: "So, you're in the cul-de-sac with the other two." Zeke gave her a confused look. She pointed to a couple of seats in the back and said: "The boy sitting alone listening to music and reading and the girl across from him are in that area as well." Zeke smiles and says: "Thanks and sorry for being late, I'll do my best to be on time from now on." The bus driver muttered something to herself as Zeke went to look for a seat. He got to the seat with the kid listening to music and reading. He saw that it was Walker and asks to sit next to him. Walker ignores him due to not paying attention. Zeke tapped him on the shoulder. Walker looked up and saw Zeke. He removed one headphone and said: "Hey Zeke, what's up?" Zeke asks: "Can I sit with you?" Walker replies: "Sure I don't care." Zeke smiled and sat down next to him.
The bus arrives at the cul-de-sac where the three live. Zeke gets up and starts making his way off the bus. Susan gets up and gets Walker's attention. he removes one headphone and looks at Susan and asks: "What's up?" Susan says: "It's time to get off the bus." He nods, closes his book and gets off the bus with Susan. He notices Zeke looking around. He walks up and asks: "Hey Zeke, What's wrong?" Zeke responds: "I'm trying to remember where my house is. that's all." He sighs and says: "Walk with us until you find your house." As they were walking they saw some kids playing basketball. One of the kids tried to pass the ball but it missed his friend and went straight for Susan. Zeke noticed this and tried to say something only to notice Walker had disappeared. he was running towards the hoop while dribbling. He jumped and dunked the ball. After telling the kids to be careful he returned to Walking with Susan and Zeke. Zeke stared at him with awe. Walker spoke without looking: "What's wrong? You've been standing staring at me for a minute now." Zeke questions: "how did you do that?" Walker sighed and said: "Despite being overweight and having an average height, I'm quite fast and strong when I want to be. Besides I have a promise I have to keep." Zeke questions again: "What promise?" Walker looks at Susan. She nods. Walker sighs then speaks: "A long time ago Susan was kidnapped. Everyone was searching for her all over. I was the one who found her. When I got there, they were about to have their way with her. I rushed in to stop them but was thrown aside. They pointed their guns at her and pulled the trigger. The next thing I know was in front of her with a hole in my chest, Before I blacked out I promised her I would always protect her no matter what. I have faint memories of what happened next. Long story short I slaughtered them. That's how I earned the title 'The Devil of Destruction'. I awoke in the hospital about a week later with Susan looking at me with tears in her eyes, apologizing for what happened to me. The gunshot that was supposed to be fatal, healed before the cops found the place. When they got there They found me passed out on the floor covered in the kidnappers' blood with Susan holding me. they questioned Susan about what happened but they couldn't believe a word at first until they saw the scar left by the bullet. I was labeled a hero that day, and Susan refuses to leave my side ever since then." Zeke was taken aback by his past and amazed he was still alive.
As they were walking Zeke saw his house and was about to go inside when Susan invited him to a party tomorrow at Walker's house. Zeke looked to Walker for approval and he just nodded his head. Walker pointed to his house just down the road to show him where to go. Zeke smiled and went inside. Walker and Susan walked to Susan's home. Walker said goodnight as she went inside. Walker then went inside his house. As soon as Walker got inside the house his mother hugged him. Walker Sighs and says: "So, you heard." His mother nodded her head. His father didn't say a word like always, in fact, he didn't even look at his son. "I'm fine now mom," Walker said, "I promise. I'm gonna go to my room and get some rest okay?" His mom nodded and he went to his room. He laid down on his bed and passed out. At midnight he woke up with intense pain throughout his entire body. He tried screaming but nothing came out. As he crawled around on the floor of his room he noticed the pain moving towards his back. His back felt like it was splitting in two locations. At that moment wings grew from his back. As the pain faded he ran to the bathroom. There he saw his right eye and his hair became red. He also couldn't help but notice he had wings. He decided to deal with this stuff later and went back to bed.
