I'm only telling you this,
Because life can do terrible things.
-Terrible Things, Mayday Parade

"What did you just say?", she said and I flinched at the tone if her voice. This meant nothing good and I definitely had gone too far and her face told me everything I didn't already know. She grinned at me and left without another word.

I had 5 more hours in school until I could finally go home. I closed my locker after I put my things into it. My phone rang and I answered.

"Honey, we'll meet in the parking lot in 20 minutes, okay?", my mind said through the phone and I smiled. I was really happy she tried. She didn't have to be the greatest mother on earth but as long as she somehow cared, I dealed with it.

"You're planing on going somewhere sweetheart?", a voice said and my knees automatically got weak. "Too dumb to walk right? I knew something was wrong with you."

"Please leave me alone.", I said. "I have to go now.", I said, trying to stay calm because saying that I didn't like her was an understatement.

"Running to your fucked up mommy before daddy comes home after fucking some slut?", she said, looking directly at my face to see what reaction she got out of that one. About 10 people stood around us and my face stayed hard.

"Never talk about my mother like that again! I don't care about my father. Maybe the slut he may have had sex with was your mother or even you. I don't know and I don't care but leave me and my mother alone.", I said, turned around and ignored all the 'boohs'. I quickly got into the car and smiled at my mum.

"You remeber the little ice cream shop we used to go?", she asked and I nodded. "Of course, I remember this shop. I always got mango ice cream and you got strawberry ice cream. Once mine dropped to the ground and I started to cry because which 4 year old wouldn't and then the nice man who sold the ice cream gave me a new one.", I said and she laughed. "I remember this. You were so sad and the tears were streaming down your face but when he gave you a new one, you suddenly stopped crying and we went to a playground and spend like 3 hours there.", she said and smiled. This whole day seemed to be filled with smiles and laughing.

20 minutes later my mum stopped the car engine, we got out and bought our ice cream. This time mine didn't fell to the ground and we spend the rest of the afternoon there. At 6pm we drove back to the house and I finished my English homework. The teacher said we had to be ready on Friday but I wanted to have everything done. I didn't like having thousands of homework. After finishing everything I put in my The Fray CD and listened to one of my favourite albums.

How to Save a Life was playing when the door bell rang. After coming home my mum went straight to the psychiatrist and I was alone. I went down the stairs and opened the door. In front of me stood Sophie.

"Hey, are you doing anything or do you have time?", she asked. "Nope, not doing anything. I'm free for movies and pizza if you want.", I told her and she entered the house. Her backpack hung down her shoulder and when she opened it, she got one movie in her hand. "Guess who can call herself the lucky one to watch City of Bones with the one and only Sophie?", she said and I rolled my eyes. "Has somebody ever told you how bigheaded you are?", I asked and took the movie out of her hand. "I'm gonna order the pizza.", I shouted out of the kitchen and she answered with an 'OK dumbass.'

Best friends.

15 minutes later the door bell rung again and when I opened it, the smell of fresh pizza turned everything into a unicorn-rainbow-place. I closed the door and joined Sophie on the couch.
