During Volleyball Practice
Mai explained what (Y/N) will have to do as one of the new team managers. It wasn't too difficult for (Y/N) to comprehend because she mainly just had to tally all of the points each volley player makes, any mistakes they make, any areas that need improvement, change towels, refill water bottles, etc. It was all easy stuff for (Y/N).
(Y/N) really enjoyed watching Sakusa play throughout the practice after being formally introduced to him because he seemed like a really nice guy. Plus, he could be your best friend's potential new boyfriend so it's important for the two of you to get along.
Little did (Y/N) know, Sakusa usually doesn't enjoy talking to people, meeting knew people, and if anybody else knocked him to the ground and got him covered in germs, he would probably hate that person for forever and never want to be near them again.
(Y/N) didn't really have any opportunities to chat with Sakusa or any of the other volleyball players throughout the practice because she was constantly helping Mai and talking to the coach about new volleyball strategies.
After Volleyball Practice
Mai: So do you want to become a volleyball manager?
(Y/N): I think I will.
Mai: Really?!? I'm happy to hear that!
(Y/N): I think that being a manager for the boys volleyball team will be pretty nice and I don't think that it will conflict with my school work.
Mai: That's good. I'll go tell the coach and the boys that you agreed to be a new manager.
(Y/N): Okay.
After Mai walked away to tell the boys and the coach, you started to pack your things. All of the volleyballs, volleyball nets, and other equipment were already put away so all you had to do was just pack up your things and meet up with Eri to walk home. While you were packing your things, you decided to check your phone for any new messages. Turns out you got a new message from Eri.
From: Bestie 👯♀️
Heyyyyy. I'm so sorry but the girls from my team wanted to all hang out after practice because we got out early so I won't be able to walk with you today 😞
To: Bestie 👯♀️
I don't mind. Have a fun time 😋
Mai: (Y/N)!
(Y/N) turned around to see Mai jogging towards her.
Mai: All the guys seem pretty stoked to have you as a new team manager. Also, the coach seems pretty happy too.
(Y/N): That's nice to hear. Now I know I will have an easy time getting along with everyone.
Mai: I know right. Are you about to go home?
(Y/N): Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow.
Mai: Okay. Get home safe!
(Y/N): Thank you.
(Y/N) exited the gym and started to walk home. It was weird walking home by herself because she usually had Eri by her side.
As she walked pass the front gate she heard someone call her name. She turned around and saw Sakusa. (Y/N) notices that he was now wearing a white face mask.
(Y/N): I guess he wears that because he's a germaphobe.
(Y/N): Hey Sakusa. About to go home to?
Sakusa: Yeah, you too?
(Y/N): Yep. I have to go this way so I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight.
Sakusa: Wait.
(Y/N): Hmm?
Sakusa: Are you walking home by yourself?
(Y/N): Uhhh yeah. I usually walk home with my Eri but she left early so now I have to walk home by myself.
Sakusa: If you want, I can walk you home.
(Y/N): Oh, you don't have to. It's fine.
Sakusa: Are you sure? Because it can be pretty dangerous to walk alone at night.
(Y/N): Hmmm, yeah maybe your right...I guess I'll have to take you up on your offer.
Sakusa: Okay. Can you wait a bit so I can change?
(Y/N): Of course.
After Sakusa changed, (Y/N) and Sakusa started to walk home together. Both of them didn't talk throughout the beginning of the walk because they both realized that they never actually had this much along time together. (Y/N) didn't really feel uncomfortable but Sakusa was kinda nervous because he did want to start a conversation with (Y/N) and wanted to get to know her better.
After a couple of minutes of walking, (Y/N) realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to talk Eri up to Sakusa and get him to start thinking about her.
(Y/N): You know, the person I usually walk with is my best friend Eri. She's really pretty and happens to play on the girls' volleyball team. Can you guess the position she plays?
Sakusa just stares at (Y/N)
Y/N: Wing spiker.
Sakusa just stares at (Y/N)
(Y/N): You're losing him (Y/N). Hype up your best friend better.
And so, throughout the entire walk back to (Y/N)'s home, (Y/N) tried to brag about Eri to Sakusa but would just be met with a bored expression.
Once they made it to (Y/N)'s door, (Y/N) vowed to be a better wing woman for Eri.
(Y/N): Uhh, well goodnight. Thanks for walking me home. You made me feel a lot safer.
Sakusa slightly blushed and looked away.
Sakusa: Don't worry about it. Whenever you need someone to walk home with, you can always ask me.
(Y/N): Thanks! I'll see you tomorrow then!
Sakusa: Bye.
As (Y/N) was opening her door and about to walk in, Sakusa caught her attention.
(Y/N): Did you need something else?
Sakusa: Next time, I want to hear more about you. Not your best friend.
(Y/N): Oh.
Sakusa then walked away, leaving (Y/N) blushing. Not sure what to do or think.
