DAVE'S POV
''I don't know anything about her. I told you, I just moved here. I saw her through my bay window taking the pills, so I decided to run to her house and save her before it was too late. Even though I was late to keep her from taking them, I'm glad I still made it early enough to save her life.'' I answered the two men who looked like investigators probably working on whatever made Melody to make such a decision of committing suicide.

''Thank you Dave, we'll be in touch'' they said before leaving the house.

I can't imagine what's going on in her life... even though I only heard her stories partial. I'm not sure yet of who to ask but the few comments that the other guys are making in the school's blog are basically telling me that her life is all but not good. I still have hope though. No matter how dark it is, there is always a light in there somewhere.

Mom!! You do know that you were so good today, saving Melody's life.''

''Aww honey, I'm a doctor , that's pretty much what we do.'' She chuckled as she joined me on the sofa for a movie.

''You're typically a superhero.''

''Tell me something I don't know'' and with that statement, my lips curved upwards. Forming a small smile to show how proud I am to have her as my mom.

''She could have died today'' I cut the silence between us

''I know baby, but luckily she's not. You saved her. I don't know what that girl is going through. It must be affecting her so bad.''

''I guess someone obviously doesn't see that'' I suddenly remembered her mom and how she wants to send her away.

''I overheard their conversation today as I was running on my daily rounds. Her mom also seems to be in a very wild state. But i think if her mom would have been there for her. Maybe she wouldn't have done what she did.'' She said heading to her room.

Goodnight Dave.

''Goodnight mom'' i also went to my room.

The only thing I thought about last night was an early visit at the hospital to see Melody. Obviously her mom wasn't going to be there.

''Hi. I came to visit a friend of mine'' I told the nurse standing at the reception.

''Name please?''

''Melody Wayne''

''Room 123, third floor. Don't take too long''

''I won't . Thank you.'' I said as I rushed to her room

I reached her room and took a deep breath preparing myself for whatever was going to happen before I set foot in this room.

She didn't even flinch at the sound of the door opening nor closing.

''Hey Mel.''

''Oh great, you came to check if I wasn't plunging a syringe into my neck.'' I could almost feel the emptiness inside her voice and heart.

''No, I came to see how you're doing.''

''Why do you even care?''she snapped

''Because I believe you deserve a second chance.''

A second chance?? A second chance. Look at me!!! I stared at her exposed arms which were full of scars and fresh cuts.

''Nobody like me deserves to have a second chance. I am sick and tired of being dead inside, I am sick and tired of being broken I am sick and tired of being hurt and alone without anyone caring. I am sick and tired of missing my bestfriend, sick and tired of living..... Don't you understand?''

Tears were now starting to form in her eyes. I knew she was fighting them, she didn't want to cry right here in front of me. So I just pushed myself a little lower, enough to pull her to me and let her cry on my chest. She didn't deserve a life like this. No one deserves a life like this.

''You're going to be okay.
Everything is gonna be alright''
