Sarah's POV

We cried for a long time that night, and my brain was on hyperactive mode thinking about everything that Grace hadn't told me before now, and what she was potentially still hiding.

Eventually I saw her eyelids begin to flutter as her body tried to get her to go to sleep, but I could see she was fighting it.

"Let's just forget it, Mommy. Honest, I'm fine. I just want to spend Christmas with you and have a good time, I don't even care if you have to leave again next January, I promise" I saw her trying desperately to keep her eyes open. She let out a little yawn "I'm just so happy you're home now"

I pulled her closer to me and stroked her hair "Ssssh baby, it's okay. You can sleep now. Don't try and fight it anymore, you can go. I'm right here if you need me" I whispered

She clung tighter to me and leaned up to plant a kiss on my cheek, before burying her head into my chest "I love you Mommy, night night"

"Night night, baby bug" I kissed her nose

That night I barely slept. I just sat up worrying about her. I had to keep checking she was okay, even though she was in my arms. The last thing I remember was looking at the clock and it reading 5:55 am. I let out a yawn and shut my eyes for what felt like 2 minutes.

"Mommy wake up" I felt Grace shake me gently "Mommy" she leant down and whispered in my ear

"Mmm" I kept my eyes closed and prayed that she would let me sleep a little more

"Come on Mommy, we're going out for breakfast today"

I opened my eyes and smiled at her. Her hair was all messy from where she had slept on it and her eyes were all puffy. She looked so small.

I got out of bed and jumped into the shower, before dressing and meeting Grace downstairs

"Where we off to, baby girl?" I asked

"I thought we could go to the pancake place near Central Park? Then we could go for a walk and maybe do some shopping – although I've finished all my Christmas shopping, so maybe just to look around"

"Or how about we look around the shops and I'll buy you something that you want, yeah?"

"Uhh, are you sure? I mean, Christmas is like 2 weeks away"

"I'll buy you anything, baby" I winked at her and pulled on my coat

As we stepped out into the fresh New York air, Grace slipped her hand into mine. I loved it when she was like this, it reminded me that she was still little at heart.

When we arrived at the pancake place, we both ordered and I had decided the night before that I would do something to cheer Grace up

"So hey, I was thinking that maybe because we still have a couple of American Horror Story scenes to shoot before the end of the season that you could come along with me to set for a couple of days in January. You wouldn't miss too much school, and we could spend more time together because I know how much you like being on set with me"

She looked up and our eyes locked together as a wide smile appeared on her face

"Seriously?" she almost whispered in disbelief

"Seriously, Angel" I smiled knowing how happy this would make her

"Thank you Mommy, thank you so so much" she took my hand in hers to signal her excitement and bit her lip a little to try and hide how much she was smiling

The rest of the day was spent walking and shopping. I bought Grace a few bits of clothes that she liked and I tried to get her some more expensive bits, but she was so stubborn about it that I could only manage to get her a couple of things
