After approximately seven minutes, Namjoon slowly woke up, his eyes taking a while to adjust to the sunlight. He saw Taehyun peering over him with tears in his eyes. He had passed out and was exhausted to the point where he didn't care anymore.
Taehyun wasted no time helping him inside the cart and took the napkins placed in a basket and cleaned off the blood on Namjoon's clothes, trying his best to ignore the queasy smell of blood. Namjoon appreciated Taehyun's gesture very much and he muttered a quiet 'thanks' before sitting on the seat from across Taehyun.
Namjoon looked down and said nothing. His heartbreaking sniffles and heavy breathing filled the cart along with the ill smell of blood. It was still so hard to process the fact that his brothers were no longer with him.
Taehyun kept glancing at Namjoon every now and then. He felt devastated for him and wish he knew how to console him.
Eventually, Taehyun uncertainly grasped Namjoon's hands which were placed on the table.
Namjoon felt Taehyun's gentle grip and he looked up, his watery eyes locking with Taehyun's ones.
Namjoon's mouth slightly fell, and he cocked his head to the side, a habit he had gotten from Jungkook. Taehyun smiled slightly before taking a deep breath.
''I miss you.. I- I miss you.. How long do I have to wait? And how many sleepless nights do I have to spend? To see you? To meet you? Passing by the edge of the cold winter, Until the days of spring.. Until the days of flower blossoms. Please stay, please stay there a little longer..'' Taehyun sang softly in a delicate voice.
He started off as a nervous wreck as he wasn't entirely confident in his singing skills when he saw Namjoon's face light up, he felt himself growing more positive.
''When there is hope, there is always hardship,'' Taehyun added, grinning at Namjoon who also felt a smile creep upon his face.
Sea and Spring Day were songs that meant so much to him. They were songs that came from the bottom of his heart. He never thought that the songs that he had written would help him so much in his darkest and lonely days.
Namjoon felt another wave of tears about to hit him but this time, it was tears of nostalgia. He got precious memories of him and his boys together.
When they won their first award.
When they received their first Daesang.
When they finally proved themselves worthy to the rest of the world.
But most importantly, all the times they would spend together meant everything to Namjoon since he loved and cherished his boys so much.
Being in Bangtan Sonyeondan taught him a lot of good lessons; To be a thoughtful leader, to be patient and to NEVER give up when things are most difficult.
Namjoon opened his arms, inviting Taehyun to come to hug him, to which he gladly accepted. Namjoon loved hugs as it did make him feel better.
Namjoon cradled Taehyun in his arms gently. Taehyun pressed his head against Namjoon's chest and felt sleepy. It wasn't long until he closed his eyes, quickly drifting off to sleep.
Namjoon drummed his fingers against the wall. After a few moments, he removed Taehyun from his lap and placed him back onto the chair. Taehyun wasn't dazed by this and he just continued sleeping.
Namjoon strolled over to the control area and had a clear view of the outside. They had finally arrived in Busan. He spotted a tunnel and decided to pull the lever to stop the train.
Namjoon went back into the cart where Taehyun was and gently nudged him, signalling him to wake up.
Taehyun groaned and he rubbed his eyes before blinking. He looked at Namjoon who told him to follow him.
Taehyun obeyed without questioning Namjoon's commands. The latter was the first to get out of the train. He jumped on the ground and helped Taehyun get down too.
Namjoon looked around cautiously to see if any zombies were insight. Luckily, the place seemed deserted and no one else except them could be seen. Namjoon diverted his attention to Taehyun.
''There's a tunnel. Let's just go through it,'' He mumbled as he began to make his way through the tunnel. Taehyun nodded solemnly and followed Namjoon, grasping his hand firmly.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the tunnel was the military. They were armed with weapons and were waiting to escort survivors.
One soldier spotted Namjoon and Taehyun walked through the tunnel. He took out his radio from his pocket and put it near his mouth.
''A male and a young child are approaching..'' He reported.
''Kill them,'' The military officer responds quickly before hanging up.
The soldier instructed the other soldiers about the supposedly infected people drawing near and the soldiers obeyed as they chose between Taehyun or Namjoon to shoot.
All of the soldiers were about to pull the trigger until they heard Taehyun's voice echo through the tunnel. The soldiers were stunned by this and lowered their weapons down as they glanced at each other.
'It's alright, now count 1, 2, 3 and forget. Erase all sad memories. Hold each other's hands and smile." Taehyun sang loudly, tears spilling out his eyes. A soft smile appeared on Namjoon's face when he thought about the last time Bangtan had performed this song as a full group.
''SURVIVORS!'' A soldier screamed. The military raced inside the tunnel and swarmed Namjoon and Taehyun.
They bombarded them with a bunch of questions. Then, the military escorted the two remaining survivors off to a place where they would be able to rest and recover. After all, the environment that broke you cannot be the environment that puts you back together.
Namjoon and Taehyun smiled at each other, knowing that this dreadful ordeal was finally over and they could be safe at last.
