Hello? Can you hear me? I need to find my mom. I'm in danger! Please, I need to find her! Her name is Raven, but she goes by---
Raven sat up gasping. It's that voice again. Raven looked at the clock to see it was now 3:42 AM.
It's been about 2 months since I made the lights break. She thought to herself.
Raven put on her favorite hoodie and went to see what Loki was doing at this hour. Loki was sitting up as she walked in. He looked up at her, looking pretty tired himself.
"Darling, what are you doing up?" He asked, seemingly concerned. "Just... uhm. J-just a bad dream, that's all." She told him, not wanting to be honest with him. "You?" "Unable to sleep." He said, running his hand through his hair.
Raven sat in a chair next to his glass cell. "Hey, Loki? Mind if I ask you something?" She stared at the ceiling, creating an illusion so that they could see the night sky. Loki looked up at the ceiling also as he pulled up a chair next to her. "Of course."
"Have you... Have you ever been in love?" Raven asked hesitantly, unsure if this was a good way to start a conversation.
"As in a romance? No, I have not."
Raven nodded her head, staying silent.
"Is it something you've thought about?" She asked him
"A little." He told her with a slight shrug.
"Anyone you like?"
"Maybe. I'm not quite sure yet."
Raven nodded again, feeling herself beginning to nod off. She tried to fight it by blinking a lot. Caving, Raven finally closed her eyes. Shortly after, Raven felt herself falling off the chair. "Shit!" Raven whispered as she caught herself.
"Rachel! Are you alright?!" Loki asked, standing up.
Raven got up, rubbing her hands together. "Ya, I'm fine."
"Come in here, let me see."
"Loki, I'm fine."
"Humor me."
Raven sighed and placed her hand on the glass. It rippled, and she walked through. Raven looked at Loki as she showed him her hands. Raven was using an illusion to hide that her hands were a bit scraped. I hope he doesn't notice that. "See? I'm fine."
"Take down your illusion."
"Loki, I'm not-"
"Dearest, I'm a master of illusions. Take it down, let me see."
Raven sighed and took down the illusion. Loki examined her hands. He gently placed both of his hands on hers, and there was a light green glow between their hands. Loki removed his hands, revealing that he had healed her hands.
"Whoa. I didn't know you could do that." Raven said, surprised. Loki smiled at her softly.
"Dearest, you look exhausted. Why don't you and I share my bed tonight? I can keep your nightmares away."
"I... I'm not sure." Raven said hesitantly, looking away from Loki's gaze.
"We can use separate blankets if you would like."
He's never given me a reason to not trust him, despite him being in this cell.
"Let me get my weighted blanket," She told him, turning to the glass.
"What is a 'weighted' blanket? What purpose does it have?" He asked.
"It helps me sleep on my worst nights."
Raven goes to place her hand on the glass, but her surroundings suddenly begin to change. "Uh... Loki? What's happening?!" She asked, feeling the fear rise in her chest. This has never happened before! What's happening to me?! I'm not doing this!
Raven can see the Avengers tower, torn down and in the rubble. The city of Manhattan was abandoned and in shambles. Everything is burning. Raven felt a hand on her shoulder, and as she turned around, she was greeted by a man who has yellow eyes. "You couldn't keep me there forever. You are my prodigy. You are my child. And you will follow my command."
Raven tried screaming, but nothing came out. The ground beneath her crumbles, and she falls into the abyss. As she falls, I see a boy standing next to the yellow-eyed man. Everything fades to black, and it's hard for her to breathe.
Raven's eyes snap open to Loki holding her, shouting for help.
"Loki..." Raven managed to say.
"Rachel! What happened? You suddenly just fainted." Loki said, worriedly.
"It... it was a vision. I need to speak with Fury." Raven started getting up, but her legs gave out, too shaky for them to hold her up. "Easy now, love," Loki said, helping her to rise.Loki walked her get to the glass, making sure she doesn't fall again. Once she's on the other side and able to stand on her own, she heads toward her quarters to properly get dressed.
"Rachel? Who is that?" Loki asked. "Salem?" Raven asked, looking in the same direction as Loki.
"How's it going, big sis?" She asked.
"How did you even get here? How did you find me?!""You were pretty hard to find. Dad told me where you were."
"You and your witchcraft!" Raven rolled her eyes. "You can't be here."
"And what, you get the God to yourself?" She asked tauntingly.
"You're not supposed to be here, Salem."
"Darling, you have a sister?" Loki asked.
"Half-sister," Raven said in a cold tone. "We were separated after our Mom died, and the last time I tried to reconnect, she attacked me."
"I was in a rough patch then. And speaking of, I found Mom," Salem said with a straight face.
"What do you mean? Mom died when I was 9, you were 3."
"That's what she wanted us to believe." Salem sat down at a table, crossing her arms. "Mom and Auntie lied to the both of us."
"But.. We went to her funeral. I remember seeing her open casket. How is it possible?"
"I don't know." Salem sighed and shrugged.
"Salem, how did you even get to New York? Aunt Karen lives in Michigan." Raven questioned.
"Dad," Salem said rather smugly.
"Don't lie to me. You know I can tell when you're lying to me."
Salem rolled her eyes and sighed defeatedly. "I stole Auntie's card and flew out here."
"She's gonna be furious."
"That's why I came to you."
Fury stormed in, glaring at Salem. "I don't recall letting you in."
"Fury, this is my sister, Salem. She's a witch. She can get into any building if she puts her mind to it." Raven told him, hoping he won't be too angry.
"So you're the sister your mom spoke of." Fury turned to Raven as if to say something, but she cut him off before he got any words out.
"She's here?!" Raven asked, now getting upset.
Salem jumped up from the table. "What is this, a family reunion?!" She spat, feeling confused.
Loki remained silent as Raven and Salem exchanged glances.
Fury stepped aside, and their mom walked in.
Salem started to tear up. "Mom..."
Raven took a few steps back, not wanting to accept that their Mom was truly alive.
"Hey girls..." she softly said with a small smile.
"You left us..." Raven barely whispered.
"Raven, let me explain. I had to leave to protect you girls-"
Raven caught her off, her rage overflowing.
"NO!! YOU DON'T GET TO JUST WALK OUT OF OUR LIVES AND WALT'S BACK IN MORE THAN TEN YEARS LATER A-AND HOPE FOR THE BEST!! THAT'S NOT HOW THIS SHIT WORKS!! WE NEEDED YOU!! I NEEDED YOU!! MY POWERS WERE COMING IN, A-AND Y-YOU JUST DECIDE T-TO WHAT?! FAKE YOUR GOD DAMN DEATH??!! YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT WE WENT THROUGH JUST BE HERE! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF BATTLES WE FOUGHT!! YOU DIDN'T PROTECT US, I WAS THE ONE WHO PROTECTED SALEM!! IT WAS ME CLEANING AUNT KAREN'S HOUSE!!! IT WAS ME COOKING!! AND WHEN SHE BECAME AFRAID OF MY ABILITIES AFTER I ALMOST SET HIM LOOSE, I WAS THE ONE WHO HAS LOCKED AWAY IN THE BASEMENT!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT WAS LIKE?! I WAS FUCKING 12 YEARS OLD!!"
Raven was breathing heavily. Salem stood in front of her, knowing where this was going to go. Raven's abilities always seemed to go haywire whenever she had strong feelings.
"Rae, breath. Let's just hear her out, okay?" She pleaded.
"No Salem!! This isn't how families should be!! You don't know Mom the way I knew her!" Raven, shouted, her chest rising and falling quickly. Raven was battling herself, trying to keep herself in control despite how angry she felt. She wanted to let herself lose control. Maybe then their Mom would understand the negative impact she had on her. On the both of us!
"Perhaps it's best that you leave," Fury said to their Mom, not knowing that this was how Raven was going to react.
"Raven, I didn't abandon you!" Their mom shouted back. Raven's eyes turned black as she screamed at her, her voice sounding demonic and menacing.
"STOP LYING!!"
All of the power in the building shut down and things that were glass were now shattered, including Loki's prison.
When Raven realized what she had just done, she began to panic.
"No... No, I-I didn't mean... Th-that wasn't supposed to..." Raven stuttered, her anxiety increasing with the eerie silence of the building.
From Raven's perspective, everything began going dark. The sounds of voices distorted as she began to fall onto the floor. "I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean it..." Raven whispered, unsure if anyone had heard her.
"Rae?? Raven! Sis, stay with me! We can fix this! RAVEN!" She hears Salem's muffled voice just before the silence takes over.I screwed up! I didn't mean for this to happen! I'm sorry Fury! I tried to control my anger, I really did! I'm so sorry!
