Tobias POV
Max told me yesterday about Tris' training being with Eric and not me. I went balistic on him and I am surprised that I am not factionless. But anyway, I can't help being very concerned about her - there is nothing I can do to protect her and there's no way that he'll show any mercy.
Tris POV
I drag myself around the hallways of the dauntless compound to get to the training room I know so well from initiation, wondering what Eric will make me do. I have no Tobias to protect me now so I am entirely vulnerable to the wrath of Eric's harsh ways. And to be quite honest, I am terrified.
Both of us know that I can shoot and throw but I can't manage much more than a weak punch in one-to-one combat. Eric strides into the room and tells me to jog around the room 10 times. I have never been, and will never be, a long distance champion but 10 laps I can just about manage. Then he makes me do 50 press-ups. 50 PRESSUPS!!!! By the end, I am utterly exhausted but I know that we have barely even begun. It was a wonder I made it to the lunch break so I dread this afternoon more than I have dreaded anything in my entire life.
After lunch, we work on my punches. I remember when I first met Tobias as Four and he told me to put the power behind my knees and elbows to help me to gain an upper hand in a fight. Willingly - I had taken the advice but I doubt that Eric would let me get away with that. He will probably, no definitely, make me punch until my knuckles split and bleed and I have bruises coating my tiny fists. I wish, more than possible, that Tobias could be with me right now!
As I walk back to my appartment, every muscle burning with the extreme strain, bump into Tobias and inflict a hug on him. He kisses my sweat-clothed forehead. He floats his head down to my level and softly caresses my lips with his. When I pull back for air, he comes back for more. "How was your day, Princess?" He asks me when we finally separate.
I reply, "Exhausting!" And he looks sympathetic.
His eyes smile into mine and don't drift away when he mumbles, "I've missed you."
"I've missed you too." I reply, still gazing into his ever swirling, melting, hypnotic eyes and we walk hand in had to our separate appartments.
As soon as my head hits the pillow, I am asleep.
A/N another short chapter although I have added to it and corrected tense errors.
