Tobias POV
I leap onto the desterted train and tuck my knees up underneath me - IT'S SO COLD! The journey to Erudite is pretty long and this train isn't exactly luxury. After about 4 mins of rubbing my calfs (A/N the muscle, Tobias doesn't own multiple baby cows!) I get up and stretch my legs. Impatient, I pace up and down the train car wondering how Tris managed the Journey.
No matter how many times I try to divert my thoughts away from Tris, they keep coming back: Is Tris ok? Is she starving? Why didn't she tell me? Where am I going to find her?
The minutes ware on like ours and I get bored, frozen and hungry. Why didn't I have lunch?
After about 20 mins of plain, monotone countryside, I begin to pick out large concrete shapes on the horizon and 1 entirely made from glass, glowing like liquid gold in the late, winter sun. I sigh and wish that my mission wasn't quite so grim.
As I near the Erudite compound, snow begins to melt onto the mud-streaked windows. The fat, white, feather-like flakes drift through the town, resting in the tired ground, laying a fresh sprinkle over the half melted foundations of snow.
Before I know it, I am flying off the train only to land in the cold, wet powder. I dust the fragments of snow off me and stand up. The place is almost deserted: a few birds hover above my head but other than that, nothing.
I set off in no particular direction, leaving tell-tale footprints in the white blanket. The snow creaks beneath my boots and I shiver from the cold. My hands, clapsed inside my pockets, shake a little.
Is the almighty Four scared?
No! It's just so damned cold!
Excuses excuses...
Wait am I having a conversation with myself?
Uh huh smarty. Don't worry I'll drive you there.
Where?
The asylum silly!
What?!
I shake myself off: that is not an experience I'd like to encounter again! You need to focus on the task in hand! Tris...
I hope she's ok. The snowflakes start to fall thick and fast, the wind picks up and the sun falls behind a cloud forming a fully blown blizzard. I dig my head down further into my jacket, seeking warmth yet finding none, and look around me. Where am I?
Well done smarty!
Nooooooooo
This is Jeanine's evil serum. I am currently submitting to her that you are divergent because if you weren't I wouldn't be here.
Lucky me then!
You know you love me
I don't!
Come on stroppy, man up a bit! You have been taken to the assembly point along with everyone else in this compound to wait for your orders. Have fun buddy!
Since when were we friends?
Hey you are calling me one of you people then are you? Yay! It's a start.
Oh just shut up will you?
Nope!
I hate you! I say - or I would if that thing was real - and wrench myself to reality. Then I realise it was right. I am surrounded by an army in blue wearing fake glasses, standing to attention. Erudite.
