❝So lost for so long that she forgot what it was like to be herself.❞

UNO:
WORLDS APART
Kaiya woke up to her best friend knocking on her door and calling for her. With a groan and a flaring headache threatening to squeeze her brain until nothing was left behind, she rolled over and searched for her phone in the darkness of her room.
Squinting, her bloodshot eyes screamed in discomfort as the screen flashed. A long sigh escaped her as she rolled on her back and placed an arm over her closed eyelids as her muscles flexed, battling against the consequences of the night before. Shaking her head mentally, she pushed through her ache and sat up just as the door opened.
Aria stepped in without invitation, knowing exactly what scene she was about to walk into. The distant, natural light flooding in the hallway slipped inside and glided across the wooden floor towards her face. Leaning against the door frame, Aria crossed her arms over her chest and took in her friend's dishevelled appearance.
Kaiya knew what was coming, but she ignored the torn expression on her face and stood from the bed. Aria wasn't there to judge her; she was a strong pillar supporting her, and while she was aware of the reason why she had changed into the person Kaiya was today, she was never one to start unnecessary arguments and throw punches.
"Looks like you had fun yesterday. There's blood on your lip," she pointed out, before her nose scrunched in disgust. "But do me a favour and take a shower. You reek of alcohol and sex."
Shrugging, Kaiya touched her wound and winked at her. "It was worth it."
Aria raised an eyebrow, about to question her, but her phone started ringing in the living room. "Stop lazing around and get ready. We're meeting Kise at the mall."
"Why do you need me to tag along? You go enjoy the sunshine with Romeo, and spare me the pain of having to deal with his whiny ass so early in the morning."
"Fine. But Satsuki is on her way back from a date with Kuroko!" Aria added as she rushed to the living room, her auburn locks disappearing from sight.
Fully aware of the consequences of staying, the brunette grabbed some clean clothes and locked herself in the bathroom. There was no way she was going to deal with Satsuki, the third part of their squad, squealing and blabbering for hours; as much as she wanted to be lazy and hide from the glaring sun, she would have to suck it up.
Twenty minutes later, Kaiya was closing her bedroom door and meeting Aria, who offered her a coffee with a knowing smile, in the living room. Appreciating her thoughtfulness, Kaiya sighed in relief.
"My saviour," she murmured before sipping from the hot drink, closing her eyes as her stomach struggled to make room for more liquid. "Who called?"
Aria blew some locks from her face and grabbed her purse, motioning for her friend to follow as both made their way outside.
"Just a client," she replied while her hands fumbled with the keys and she locked the door. "Who's turned out to be a pain in the gut and is making everyone lose their shit. I'm going to have to drop by and leave you two alone for a while."
Unamused, the slightly-shorter woman sent her a blank stare.
"I know your love for that blond head of idiocy couldn't have let you plan this ambush, but I hate you," she stated in a low mutter.
