CERO:
CHASING GHOSTS
Slender fingers wrapped around the shot of whiskey before she placed the glass on her red lips and closed her eyes as the alcohol burned down her throat. Without much of a grimace, like those she used to pull when her broken heart had landed inside that crowded club, the woman made a sign with her hand to order another taste of the numbing drink.
As the bartender brought the bottle to where she sat, cladded in black leggings that hugged her curves and made her ass look perkier, she crossed one leg over the other and drifted her grey eyes to the centre of the club. Bodies grinded against other dancers as an ear-piercing tune echoed between the high, purple walls. Blue became red; red faded into yellow, and so on as lights blinked and threatened to destroy her pupils.
But Kaiya enjoyed it all; from the sensation of power and confidence flooding in her veins as hungry eyes followed her movements to the scent of lust wafting around her. Sweat mixed with perfume in the hot air, people gave into primal instincts are let their desires take the wheel of their actions. She enjoyed the thrill of the haunt; the sneaky glances and playful smirks, the subtle touches and empty promises she never paid attention to.
Her pride loved the attention and compliments, the lustful stares and the frustration in their eyes whenever Kaiya played hard to get. But above it all; she relished in the sensation of her troubled thoughts abandoning her pained mind, of his face fading under the influence of alcohol. She was there to lose herself, to find a way to stop her heart from still wanting him.
Her phone vibrated and made her breasts shake slightly. Pursing her lips, Kaiya was tempted to ignore the message she had just received; she was half-way there, hanging between tipsy and drunk as hell. With a click of her tongue, she reached between her breasts and pulled her phone out.
Are you coming home tonight? We've ordered pizza. - Aria
Eyes locked on the message from her best friend, from the person she loved as a sister, she let out a sigh and ran a hand through her brown locks. Aria was far from stupid, and she knew her like the back of her hand; she was - along with Satsuki - the only one who knew about her clubbing tendencies.
Nah. Busy. - Kaiya
The last trace of perception attempted to send a wave of regret to her heart for shutting her out, but the shot she had just downed blocked its path. Her phone buzzed a second later.
Be careful. - Aria
Rounding on her stool, she put her phone back in its hidden spot and searched for the bartender to order one more shot. She wasn't in a rush; she knew someone would drop by soon enough, as a woman in that club never sat alone for too long.
"Another shot," she called.
"Of that crap? No way," a male voice commented as someone sat on the stool next to her.
Unfazed by the interjection, Kaiya tilted her head to glance at him with uninterested eyes. Orange hair, a pair of forest-green eyes, playful smirk curled on his lips that promised nothing good.
Placing a hand under her chin and letting her voice drop to a low drawl, she decided to play along. "What's your suggestion?"
Pleased with her response, the man leaned towards her and arched an eyebrow as Kaiya remained still. If he were expecting some innocent girl who'd be intimidated by sudden closeness, he was in for a surprise.
It's what Kaiya had loved about him, back when they had started dating; his lack of decency, his forwardness and obvious disregard of personal space.
Her eyes widened a fraction of a second as she caught herself, quickly pushing her train of thoughts away as realization crashed over her. As she came back to the present time, she found herself staring at the man as he offered her a shot.
"Careful, it's-"
She had wrapped her fingers around the glass and was downing the drink before he had the chance to finish talking. Electricity seemed to shake her body from toe to tips of hair as the alcohol invaded her senses for a fleeting moment, before her eyes met his wide ones.
"Damn, that shit was good," she muttered while standing up, confident enough not to sway on the spot - no matter how out of it she was starting to feel.
"I'm impressed," the man admitted with a smirk.
Replying with a smirk of her own, she gave him an once-over and finally noticed just how tall he was. His white shirt was loose against his body, but Kaiya was certain he was hiding some tasteful muscles her fingers now itched to trace.
"You haven't seen anything yet."
He stepped closer and invaded her personal space. "Guess you'll have to show me, beautiful."
Enjoying their little game, Kaiya leaned in and placed a hand on his chest. Her hormones screamed in delight as her assumptions were confirmed; his muscles tensed under her seemingly-innocent touch.
"Let's dance."
Somewhere between wordless songs and flattering whispers in her ear, Kaiya lost herself. She hadn't even bothered asking his name; it didn't matter - even when a short conversation was attempted, it was meaningless. She didn't care about trivialities, about a name she would have forgotten in the morning.
And after four songs, she had had enough of dancing. With a charming smile and a wink, she rounded on her high heels and strolled towards the exit. In her intoxicated state, she allowed the man to lead her to his car which waited in the dark parking some meters away from the club.
As soon as he stepped inside, he dragged her along and pressed her body against his firm chest. Kaiya wasted no time in taking control of the situation, dominating as she so much liked. Her mouth was demanding, her hands greedy as they fumbled with his clothes.
"Eager, are we?"
She froze. She had almost hear his smirk in his husky voice as he teased her, his blue eyes holding her gaze as she broke away. Kaiya stared at him with wide eyes, taking in his sharp features and that unnerving smirk she had loved and hated at the same time. Her fingers itched to trace them, and she lifted a hand before she could stop herself.
Daiki...
But suddenly, he was gone and she was staring into the confused expression of the man she'd just met at the club.
"What's wrong?" he asked in a voice that was torn between scepticism and lust.
Blinking furiously, Kaiya shook her head and forced her body to relax and give into pleasure. Until her screaming heart was muffled by her pants, and her thoughts faded into numbness.
