Izuku's POV~
I was definitely more tired than I had first thought.
I fell asleep in Todoroki's arms.
Now before you judge me, hear the whole story!
I was going to pull away from my sudden hug, thinking I had made him uncomfortable or even mad, but I couldn't. He had hugged me back. I don't know about you, but when someone I know needs a hug and they're willing to let me give them one, I never pull away first. I just let him hug me, and we kind of just never pulled away. I guess I ended up falling asleep like that. When I woke up, he was leaning against the headboard of the bed and I was sitting on his lap, still hugging him. He had one arm wrapped around me and the other scrolling through his phone, again.
Obviously, when I first woke up, I didn't want to move. I wasn't fully awake and all I knew was that I was hecking comfy. I had tightened my arms around him and burrowed my head into his chest. This caused him to lightly chuckle, which caused me to shoot up in surprise and kind of fall of the bed. Kind of.
I ended up still being tangled up with him in the blankets, he must of put on us, and we both went over the side of the bed. I fell on my back and he fell on top of me. As I groaned in pain, he continued to chuckle at my misfortune. "How'd that feel little Angel?" I heard him ask sarcastically.
I went bright red at the nickname that he seemed attached to, and because the fact I fell asleep on him, hit me in the face. "It would have hurt less if you hadn't landed on top of me." I responded nearly a minute later, trying to play it cool.
He smirk at me and started to get up. "Maybe I wouldn't have landed on top of you, if you hadn't dragged me down. Couldn't you have fallen for me without injuring both of us in the process?" He teased, causing my face to become hotter by the second.
"W-what? I'm-I'm not- that's not-... huh?" I was completely dumbfounded by his remark. Me? Fall for him? I mean, literally I might have, but definitely not in the way he was insinuating. An Angel Halve and a Demon Halve? It was practically unheard of. Especially two guys. Isn't that a sin or something? I didn't really know, I never bothered to read the Bible. Kind of boring if you ask me.
"C'mon, you were asleep for like two hours. We got a text from Aizawa awhile ago, we have somewhere we need to be." He said, grabbing some of the things he had brought with.
I stayed where I was on the floor. "But we just got here. Are we really heading somewhere else?" I asked him. He was packing, not that he had really ever unpacked, so it appeared we would be going somewhere far away.
"Yeah, and we were supposed to leave like an hour ago, so hurry up." He said.
I quickly scrambled up and grabbed my still packed bag and we headed out the door. We were already in the elevator when something dawned on me. "Wait Sho, if we were supposed to leave an hour ago, why didn't we?" I asked him, confused as to why he hadn't woken me up.
He didn't even look at me while responding. "You complained that you were tired, so I didn't want to wake you up. Even though you slept the whole damn flight." He had mumbled the last part, but not quiet enough for me not to hear.
"Oh." Was my amazing response. How would you have responded to someone saying that they were so annoyed with your complaints that they screwed up the whole plan so that you could get some sleep? I felt terrible.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered as the elevator hit the ground floor.
He looked over at me with a flash of surprise in his eyes before it was gone and the blank look was back. He walked out of the elevator as soon as the doors opened. We were back on our way.
"Where do we even have to go?" I asked. He had never said and I wanted to know if we were getting on another plane.
"We have to get to New York." He said.
I nodded in understanding. It was going to be another flight. I could live with that. We got into a car, with Sho driving. I wasn't sure when we got a rental car, but I wasn't going to question it. We were Halves, a lot of weird stuff just happens to happen in our favor when we go on missions. Especially ones God specifically tells us we need to go on. This wasn't one of those though.
Sho started to drive and I just looked out the window. There wasn't any music playing, but I didn't want to touch the stereo. I figured the other boy in the car would slap me or something.
We drove right past the exit that we were supposed to take to get to the airport, which confused me. I vividly remembered that being the exit we were supposed to take. Maybe he just forgot or missed it?
"Hey Sho, wasn't that our exit?" I asked, turning to face him.
"No."
"But that's the one we have to take to get to the airport." I said. At that point, anxiety started to set in. What if that wasn't the right one and I was wrong? Then I had just made a complete fool out of myself. I didn't think I'd be able to live with that.
"We aren't going to the airport." He said.
I looked at him in confusion. "But-"
I was promptly cut off. My guess was that he was getting annoyed with how dense I was being. "We're driving. The only flights the school wanted to pay for were for us to get here and to get back to Japan. Everything else is up to us." He explained to me.
I just stared at him in shock. "How long is this car ride going to be?" I asked him, dreading the answer.
"Seven hours."
I hit my head against the window in agony.
But the worst part was....
From Maine to New York wouldn't nearly be the longest drive we would have on this trip.
