I was just a little kid
When you caught my hand in the cookie jar
I thought you would yell at me
But you didn'tI was seven
When you found me playing with mommy's make up.
I thought you would tell her who broke her favorite lipstick
But you didn'tI was nine
When you got me a bike and taught me how to ride it
I thought you would leave me to fall
But you didn'tI was ten
When I got into the pool for the first time
I thought you would let me drown
But you didn'tI was thirteen
When I asked you to come for my dance show
I thought you would miss the event
But you didn'tI was sixteen
When I begged you not to go for war, daddy
You promised me you'll come back soon
But you didn'tI was seventeen,
When I wrote letters to you every day
I expected you to reply soon
But you didn'tI am twenty five now, oh dad,
I talk to your gravestone everyday
Hoping you would reply someday
But you didn't.
