Four hours later and Hayley knows pretty much everything about were wolves except for mates. I stood in the corner mad at them and glaring at the floor. Justin, River, Brian and Brianna had joined in the middle of the conversation and I wasn't happy at all.

"I still don't know what a mate is." Hayley said as she looked at everyone until her eyes connected to mine.

"Hayden, you are the Alpha." My mom said.

"And I have an appointment to be at right now." I shot back. My dad gave me a stern look and i rolled my eyes. I pushed myself off of the wall and started walking around the room.

"A mate is short for Soulmates. A wolf's mate is someone the wolf loves no matter what and the mate is supposed to love them back as well. Most of the time a mate is also a wolf so the connection is felt by both of them. In this situation, you're a human. You can't feel the connection between us. A wolf's rank in a pack can also affect the connection. A wolf is always protective and possessive when it comes to their mate as is but the more authority a wolf has the worse it gets. So you're mated to me and I'm an Alpha. That mean I will be more possessive and protective over you than Connor who is the Beta." I said as I stopped at my spot.

"So when you say possessive, how would that work?" She asked.

"You're mine. My wolf doesn't like the thought of anyone touching you or looking at you. He wants you all to himself. No one can have you hut me and my wolf." I growled.

"And protective?" She pushed on.

"Alright say that you were walking home at night and you were to get circled by gang members. I would be there in a heartbeat and they would be in a world of hurt. I don't let anyone hurt you at all and if something like that does happen and you have even the slightest scratch then I will feel like it was my fault." I explained.

"That makes more sense." Hayley said.

"Hayden, we got a problem." Will said as he ran in.

"What is it?" I asked quickly.

"Rogues. They passed the boarders and are heading this way." He said quickly. Just then I heard a little kid scream.

"When that happens you get all the little kids inside." I growled and I shoved my brother out of the way to get to the you get kids. Hayley and my family followed me outside and I was quick to shift and leap in front of the little kids. Five rogues against one. My mom got all of the little kids to run to her quickly and she led them inside.

Hayley looked at my wolf in shock and I glanced at Allen and motioned to her. He grabbed her arm slightly and pulled her closer to him. The rogues noticed and looked at her. I growled and lunged at one immediately killing him. That's when the fight began. Two lunged at me and Connor joined in with William close behind him.

I saw one going towards my brother and mate and I was quick to kick the other one off of my and shift. A pack warrior tossed me a silver knife and i grabbed the handle before leaping at the wolf and sinking the blade into its side. He howled in pain as I tossed the blade on the ground and shifted. I was quick to kill him before I went off fighting again. Once the last rogue was dead I went behind a tree and shifted. I came out in white shorts and a black shirt.

"Stop copying me!" Connor shouted.

"It's a simple fix." I growled and pulled my shirt off. Brianna gasped and I was confused why until I say three scratches running from my right shoulder to my left hip. I looked down at it in confusion as black dots danced across my vision. I couldn't feel the pain of them but I stumbled to the couch.

"You need to go to the hospital." Hayley said as he hand touched my arm.

"I don't need a hospital." I replied and fell onto the couch.

"Not the white couch Hayden!" My mother shouted but my dad only grabbed her shoulder and shook his head. She closed her mouth as her tears started to run down her face.

"I'm not going to die. I'm already healing." I told my mom before everything went black.

I woke up and hour later with my chest wrapped and a bit of blood seeping through the bandages. I was in a hospital and my family and mate was in the room. I growled and got up which shocked everyone but I didn't care.

"I said I didn't need to go to the hospital." I growled.

"Alpha Hayden, you're awake. Let's check on those wounds." The female doctor said. She unwrapped the bandages and I was completely healed. Her eyes rested at my abs and I growled loudly at her from anger.

"I would appreciate if you'd look at my face I stead of my body. I have a mate you know." I snapped and she was quick to look at my face. Connor handed my my shirt and I put it on before glaring at the girl. She nodded and left which must've meant I could leave. I walked out with my family and mate behind me. Hayley had ran up to my and grabbed my arm to stop me from walking. The second her hand had landed on my arm I froze in my spot. We watched my family walk past me and out of the hospital. I turned around quickly and crossed my arms as I looked down at my mate.

"I know you didn't want to come to the hospital but it's the only thing I know to do. It was what I have been trained to do when someone is injured that bad." She explained.

"You think I'm mad at you for doing this? I am mad but not at you. You're trained to do things different things than I have been trained to do.  I'm more mad at the doctor than anything." I smiled.

"What did she do?" Hayley asked confused.

"Sweetheart, you're my mate. You are mine and I am yours. It's only fair that no other girl can look at me." I laughed.
