The carriage stopped outside of a small cafe.
"What are we doing here?"
"Well, we had time to spare, so why don't I treat you to a nice breakfast before class?"
Your arms remained crossed as you continued to stare him down. "Is this a date?"
He leaned a bit forward and smiled, "What do you define as a date, Mi'lady?"
"Two people, alone, going somewhere romantic."
"What!" He leaned back in fake surprise and gestured to the cafe. "You consider this romantic?"
"All the foods are heart shaped."
"Don't princesses like hearts?" He laughed nervously.
You didn't change your annoyed expression as you spoke, "I'm not a princess."
He opened the door and stepped out. Then he held out his hand, "Every fair maiden is a princess in my eyes."
You let out a sigh and got out of the carriage, without his help. "Don't you have a girlfriend?"
You didn't like being rude to Daring, especially since he really was being a gentleman towards you, but you didn't want to give him any false hope. You guys met like a few days ago, and now he's acting like he wants to court you. Honestly, it would be crueler to make him feel like you were interested at all.
He brushed off you ignoring him and shrugged his shoulders, "Oh, you mean Apple? Oh no. We're mere friends. No need to worry." Then he went to the cafe door, and held it out for you.
"Thanks." You decided to take the coldness down a bit. Maybe Daring was like this to all girls, and he just wanted to get closer because of the program.
When you reached the seating podium, Daring pulled a wad of money out of his pocket, "Your best table, my good man."
Maybe, you were right to be a bit skeptical before.
So far, Daring had gotten the two of you a booth in a secluded corner of the place, told you not to worry when you realized no prices were placed on the menu, and even told you to put your money back into your bag when you tried to count it.
Everything he was doing truly felt like a date. Then, when your drinks came, he asked for an extra straw for his milkshake.
"Care for a sip, (Y/n)?"
He put his drink in the middle of the table. Two straws were placed into the cup, and one of them was facing you.
"Uh, no thank you."
"Oh, come on now. You don't think I have cooties or something, do you? Please, I insist."
You switched your gaze between his smiling, awaiting face and his drink.
"Okay."
You gripped the clean straw between your thumb and pointer finger as you leaned in. In your anxiousness, you felt your eyes close.
You reluctantly put your lips around the straw and took a slow sip. His drink was good.
Then, the sound of sipping hit your ears. You thought it was yourself, but realized that that was not the case after hearing how fast these sips were.
Your eyes snapped open and were met with Daring's face, his eyes also closed, as he drank from his straw.
You quickly backed away from the drink and backed up against the booth seat as far as it would allow.
From your actions, Daring opened one eye to see what happened. He backed away as well when he noticed your state. "What's the matter, (Y/n)? Not a fan of the taste?"
You took a couple of breathes to calm yourself, "I, uh, no. You just surprised me, I guess." You went into your bag to find your MirrorPhone, "What time is it, shouldn't we get going?"
"Nonsense. Look our food has just arrived."
Right as he said so, a waiter came out holding a tray of the breakfast food you two had ordered.
You wanted to just leave right then and walk to school. But you couldn't without feeling guilty. Daring was spending money on you, and you couldn't just let him waste it.
Once the food was set down, Daring threw his hands up in an elaborate way.
"Perfect! A meal fit for royalty!"
You just gave him a nervous smile as you stared down at the heart shaped food on your plate.
Finally arriving at school, you had been lost in your thoughts the entire ride. Not that Daring minded. You looked adorable with a confused face.
You didn't feel it when the carriage stopped.
You didn't see when the door opened and Daring stepped out.
However, you did hear when Daring tried to help you once more. "Mi'lady."
Staring at his hand for a couple of seconds, you finally decided to take it. "Thanks."
He helped you down the steps, then slammed the door and pat the carriage to let the driver know it was okay to leave.
As he did this, you could feel thousands of eyes on the two of you.
Looking around, you saw as people stared and whispered to each other.
You gripped the strap of your bag as you felt nervous from the stares.
Daring gave a light squeeze to your shoulder, "See you later tonight, (Y/n)."
