When you had finally finished the project, you, of course, had suggested turning it in right away the next day. But, Daring insisted on not turning it in too early. He mentioned not wanting to make the slackers and procrastinators feel bad for not being as punctual as the two of you had been.
His cause seemed probable enough, so you agreed.
Daring offered to keep it at his family's house, since that would guarantee the project being untouched in his currently vacant room.
So, with that, you just let him take the project, and you would wait for the day it was time to turn it in.
However, you had forgotten to ask when the due date was.
You trusted Daring, so you decided he would tell you when the day came, and could be trusted with bringing the project with him when it was needed.
A few days had passed, and the project was mostly out of your mind. No other meetings had been scheduled to happen, so you could finally focus completely on school again. Of course, Daring and you were still great friends, so you had to work him into your life as well.
Things finally seemed to be getting back to normal.
That's when Daring called you.
"What do you mean?"
"I really am sorry, I don't know what happened."
"I thought you said it would be perfectly safe."
"I did, honest! I just don't know how this happened."
You let out a heavy sigh, "Okay, do you wanna come over, or...?"
"Actually," he sounded nervous, "I-uh, think it would be better for you to come over here. I can send a carriage, it's just, my parents are a bit doubtful of our friendship. I would love it if you could meet them, and maybe show them how wonderful you are?" He seemed to doubt his own words.
"They're...doubting our friendship?"
"Unfortunately so. They seem to think I wouldn't be interested in having a friendship with a girl without dating her."
"And, how have you given them this impression?"
He went silent. Then after a few moments, "Well, uh, I don't know, honestly. They probably assume I'm just like my father, haha."
You let out a sigh, "Um, okay, I guess. I'll be waiting." With that, you hung up.
You had no idea how, but the project had been ruined.
How could that have happened?
"Alright, let's get started."
Quickly, you grabbed his hand and dragged him up the stairs of his enormous home. When you reached the top, you finally let him take the lead, since, of course, you didn't really know where his room was.
When he led you in their, you quickly took a seat at his desk, and gathered some of the materials that was left of your project.
Daring joined your side, pulling up another chair, and the two of you once again worked on the project til the sun started to set once more.
"So, you ready to meet my parents?"
That made you almost choke on nothing. Slowly turning towards him, and forcing a smile you, you spoke, "Um, I'm sorry, what?"
He stood up and stretched before reaching for your hand.
"Come on, they'll love you by the end, I promise. It'll be great!"
