Ch 1 - Change for the Better or Worse

Few Years Later

Yasumi laid on her stomach against the ground, drawing with crayons. Her mother walked over to her, frowning a bit as she looked at the drawing. It was a drawing of a little girl and boy. The girl had green eyes and brown hair that was tied into two pigtails with two pastel red bows, and the boy had one gray eye and one blue eye, and his hair was red and white. There was no doubt, the two children were Yasumi and Shouto.

Yasumi had been less energetic ever since she stopped seeing her best friend.

Tsubaki looked around Yasumi's room, multiple drawings of Todoroki and her daughter, hung on the wall by pins. Yasumi never once took off her necklace, only when she needed to bathe. It broke her parents' hearts to see their daughter so upset from being separated from the boy. It had been about 3 years since Yasumi had last seen Todoroki, and she hoped he was doing well. Yasumi even started sending letters to him every other day to keep him up to date on how she was doing, but never once did he write back.

Yasumi was now 8, and gave up trying to convince her parents to let her see Todoroki after one and a half years. They tried to have Yasumi make new friends to distract her from Todoroki but she didn't want a new best friend. "Sho-Chan will be my only best friend! I don't wanna replace him!" she had said after her parents' attempt to schedule a playdate with the child of another family.

"Yasumi, we're going on patrol again. Aunt Kiku will be here in a few moments," her father called out as he put on his boots. Yasumi walked downstairs with her mother. She hugged them goodbye and watched as they left, then walked over to the TV and sat down in front of it, continuing to draw.

Soon her Aunt entered the home, using the spare key her parents gave her. "Aunt Kiku!" Yasumi said cheerfully as she ran to her aunt's open arms, hugging the blond-haired woman. Her aunt's name was Kiku Shizenno, and her quirk was the ability to gather light from the sun and transform it into energy, called Photosynthesis. Another aspect of her aunt's quirk was being able to transfer that energy to other life forms by contact. Her aunt was a pro hero like her parents, but she had the day off today.

Her aunt's hero name was The Energy Hero: Shokuchi, meaning plant energy.

Her mother's quirk, on the other hand, was called Blooming. She had the ability to grow any plant on her body if she had enough information on said plant, and her quirk also required her to say the name of the plant she wanted to grow. Her hero name was The Plant Hero: Hana, meaning flower.

And lastly, her father's quirk is called Animal Shift, the name is pretty self explanatory. Basically he can change into any animal he has seen in real life, and his hero name is The Shifting Hero: Beast.

"Breaking News! A group of villains has started terrorizing the area within Musutafu, Japan. Several heroes have come to stop the villains but many civilians are being caught in the crossfire," the news reporter said as they switched to a camera within a helicopter, showing the chaos ensuing below the helicopter. Yasumi looked up from her drawing and at the TV, gasping at the sight.
