Memory 2

I was stood at the doorway of the principals office, "Come in William." He spoke sternly. I walked in and stared at him for a moment, "William, do you know why I called you up?" He questioned. "I can guess why." I remarked. "Then why don't you tell me why you're up here?" "Well let's see, is it because I was trying to defend myself?" The principal shook his head, "No, that's not what I heard." "Then why don't you tell me why I'm up here?" I questioned. "You're up here because you tried drowning one of our students in the fountain outside, why did you do that?" "I told you, out of self defense." "Can you please shed some light on how this was self defense." "Alright, it started before lunch, as you might know, and that's when Jack and his friends approached me. They asked if I wanted to sit with them, because they saw me drawing in my notebook, and liked my sketches. I knew they were up to something, but I played along. Well, came time for lunch, I didn't grab a tray, yet instead I just had my notebook. Well I was walking to where they said they were sat and right as I was stood in front of the fountain, one of the girls ran up, grabbed me and was trying to throw me into the fountain, but oh how the tables turned on her." I sat in the chair silently, waiting for the principal to say something, and finally he did, "Well, according to their story, they said that you were walking past the fountain until you attacked the girl. And to standby witnesses, some back up your story, others back up their story, so we'll have to look into this more, but as for now, you're getting a suspension for a day. I sighed, "What a shame, and what are Jack and his friends getting, if anything?" "They're all getting a detention." I looked at the principal, "And how is this fair, exactly? "If the roles were flipped, you'd be the one with a detention, William. Now go back to class, and don't cause any trouble on your way there." "Don't tell me that, tell that to Jack and them." I said as I left his office. I opened the door to my class and everyone turned around to see who it was, some whispered to themselves and their friends, and others just went back to listening to the teacher. I sat down at my desk and picked up my pencil and wrote down what was on the board. "William..." I heard Vincent whisper. I looked at him, "what?" "Why were you called to the office?" I glanced at the teacher, "I'll tell you after class." Vincent nodded and I went back to working on the assignment. After class Vincent came up to me, "Why were you called to the office?" "Did you hear what happened at lunch?" I asked. Vincent nodded. "There's your answer." Vincent looked at me a bit shocked, "Why did you do that?" "How many times will I have to tell people, self defense!" I exclaimed. Vincent apologized then turned the corner to get to his locker, and I went to mine. It was time for us to leave school, so I packed my bag and met up with Vincent by his locker. "Oh, I got a one day suspension..." I say with a tone of annoyance. Vincent sighed and slung his bag over his shoulder, "What do you think your parents will do about that?" I shrugged, "depends what mood they're in..." "Do you want me to walk with you?" Vincent asked. "Sure." I replied. Our walk was pretty silent, except for the few words spoken here and there, but once we got to my house Vincent said goodbye, and I waved to him. I walked up to the house and opened the door, my mum was in the kitchen, while my father was talking to someone, probably the principal, on the house phone. When he hung up the phone he looked at me, "William, go to your room, now!" He said gruffly. I went to my room quickly and sat my bag down on my desk, and sat on my bed. A moment later my dad came in, "William, can you elaborate on why you got a suspension?" "It was in self defense! I couldn't let myself be pushed into a fountain!" I said defensively. My father narrowed his eyes, "William." He paused for a moment, "I believe you. I raised you to only do things like that if you're defending yourself. Would you like me to try and sort this out so you don't have to serve the suspension, or?" "No, it's quite alright. I need a bit more time to study and do extra work to try and bring my B+ up..." I said glad that my father wasn't angry. My father nodded, "Good, keep those grades up." He said as he left my room. I picked up my bag and took out my homework and started working on it, until it was time for bed.

Ok, don't worry, I'm going to write an actual chapter after this.
Oh by the way, this chapter takes place in 1958 and it's when William moved from England, and started attending high school. (It's about 4 weeks after he moved though)
