Patton looked away from the heartbreaking sight of Anxiety crying into his shoulder, up into the concerned eyes of his boyfriends. What had happened to Anxiety?

He felt a shift as the anxious trait sat back up. Patton looked back down to see Anxiety wiping his eyes with his sleeve, "Hey, what's wrong? How can we help?"

The other side made eye contact with his jaw, not quite looking him in the eyes, "I thought you were gon' be mad at me." he mumbled in a voice more suited to a young child than a grown man. He looked away and bit his lip like he was trying to keep from crying again.

The three boyfriends exchanges glances, why the hell did Anxiety sound like a five-year old?

Roman asked, "Anxiety? Can you say something again?"

Virgil curled in on himself, but did as asked, "Why d'you wan me to talk?" Again, his voice was childlike. It sounded a bit higher than normal, and his words were slurred.

"Virgil, how old are you?" Logan had a brief stroke of brilliance as he realized that maybe Virgil was a child right now.

"I don' know. Pwease don' call my daddy. He'll be mad, an' I don' wanna get punished again!" Virgil wailed out, realizing through the foggy haze of littlespace that if his daddy were summoned it would not end well. He scrambled to his feet in a brief panic but sank to the floor as his legs decided they would rather not work.

He rubbed his eyes with the sleeves of his jacket, and sat there pathetically on the floor, waiting for the other sides to do something, anything.

Slowly, after what seemed like forever (but was actually only a few seconds), Patton slid off the couch to sit next to him. He reached out to put his hand over Virgil's, but drew it back when the other boy flinched away. "Hey, hey," he calmed Anxiety down, "its okay. We're not gonna do anything you don't want, okay? We won't call your daddy if you don't want us to." He smiled graciously at Roman and Logan as they joined them on the floor.

Logan picked up the conversation, "Now, do you trust us enough to answer a few questions?" As much as they didn't want to push Anxiety into terrain he wasn't comfortable in, they did need answers if they were going to be any help. They needed to know just what was going on with Anxiety's apparent regression, they needed to know who this daddy was, and why Anxiety didn't want him contacted.

Virgil seemed to think for a second, before deciding that the three men had been nothing but kind and gentle with him, therefore he trusted them. He nodded cautiously, then answered vocally, "Yeah, I trust you."

Logan nodded while he thought of the best way to phrase his next question, "Alright. Who is your Daddy?"

Patton voiced his concerns, "Logan, maybe he doesn't want to talk about that, he did say he didn't want him called. Maybe-"

Virgil interrupted Patton's sentence, "Daddy's name is Deceit, an' Papas name is Remus. But I'm not allowed to call 'em that. Daddy punishes me if I do. I don' like gettin' punished." He shuddered a bit at the thought of his last punishment, which had resulted in his neck hurting. he brought his hand up to his throat, as if to reassure him that Deceit's hands were no longer wrapped around it, blocking his air, restricting his breath.

Roman saw the motion, his attention drawn to the marks on the boys neck, and asked, "Anxiety, did Deceit give you those bruises?"

Anxiety froze, "N-no! No! Daddy doesn't wan' you to know 'bout those! I was supposed to cover them up! I'm gonna be in trouble. I don' wanna get punished again! I-I'm not a slut!" Tears ran down his face as he repeated the last phrase over and over again, "I'm not a slut, I'm not a slut!"

Roman gasped, "I-I didn't mean to upset you! I'm sorry, I- I-" He was at a loss for words. The anxious, snarky side he was used to exchanging insults and banter with was crying on the floor with a child's mind, crying that he wasn't a slut. Crying that his daddy was going to be mad and punish him because the other sides had seen the bruises, the bruises, that Deceit had left on his neck.

He buried his face in Patton's neck in an attempt to escape from the sight. Patton ran his fingers through Roman's hair, understanding his distress.

Logan pushed his own troubling emotions down in favor of calming the weeping side in front of him. "Anxiety, we will not tell your Daddy that we saw the bruises. If you want, we won't even tell him that we saw you like this. Does that make you feel better?" he asked.

Virgil calmed his tears and wiped his eyes again, slowly nodding. He realized that maybe, maybe he could keep this from daddy and papa. Maybe he could get out of a punishment. He nodded again, feeling more hopeful.

Logan breathed deeply, "Okay. Now I need to ask you a few more questions, is that alright?" Anxiety nodded.

"First, has this, regressing, happened before?" Logan asked.

Virgil nodded, "Yeah! I'm lil' a lot. I used to be on my own, but then Daddy an' Papa made me do it for them. I- can you keep a secret?" He said the last part with a childlike seriousness.

Logan and the other two all nodded. Virgil glanced away, and then back to their faces before saying, "I- I don' like bein' lil' with Daddy an' Papa. It hurts. An' they're mean. They- They're bad Daddies."
