Long ago in the ancient city of Moria, people roamed the streets, working and earning money as much as they could, while many lived on the streets and begged for food and money to survive.

Joshua Dun was one of the poorest of Moria. After his parents died, he started scavenging for food and avoiding guards from catching him.

He lived among the streets with his three friends, Mark, Hayley, and Patrick, who also stole food to live.

One day, after attempting to steal from a local shop, Josh is pushed out from the owner.

"Ow!" He cried.

"I catch you trying to steal from my shop again, and you'll pay with your life!"

"If this is how you treat your customers, I'll take my business elsewhere!"

"Ha! You're nothing but a thieving, flea-bitten, street rat!"

The owner goes back into her shop. Josh walks back onto the streets and meets up with his friends.

"So, what did you steal this time?" Patrick asked.

"Steal? I don't know what you're talking about, Patrick."

"Come on, Joshua." Mark said. "You've taught us every swindle we know."

"Mark's right." Hayley added. "You're the best thief this side of the River Jordan."

"That's all behind me now, Hayley." Josh told her. "I promised my parents before they died that I'd never steal again."

Curious to find out, Patrick pulls the loaf of bread out of Josh's satchel.

"So what's this?"

Josh takes the bread from Patrick.

"Food doesn't count. A guy's gotta eat."

"Maybe we should all clean up our act." Hayley said. "Every time I pick a pocket, I feel awful."

Mark got excited.

"Falafel? Did somebody say Falafel?"

"The way I see it, we're just stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. It just so happens that we're the poor."

"I don't know, Patrick." Josh said. "When people see me, I don't want to be the first thing they think to be "thief".

"People don't think that."

Suddenly, the shop owner leads the guard leader and his crew to the marketplace to find Josh and his friends, still holding the bread.

"Thief!"

"Of course, I could be wrong."

Patrick turned to Josh.

"Time to run!"

(Start song)

Josh and his friends take off running from the guards.

(Mark, Hayley, and Patrick)
Gotta keep
One jump ahead of the breadline
One swing ahead of the sword

(Josh)
I steal only what I can't afford

(Hayley)
But that's everything!

(All four)
One jump ahead of the lawmen
That's all, and that's no joke
These guys don't appreciate we're broke

(Guards)
Riffraff!
Street rat!
Scoundrel!
Take that!

Mark, Hayley, and Patrick escape the guards, but Josh ends up trapped.

(Josh)
Just a little snack guys!

(Guards)
Rip him open, take it back guys

(Josh)
I can take a hint
Gotta face the facts
I could use a friend or two!

Josh runs into a group of beggars.

(Beggars)
True! Oh it's sad that Josh has hit the bottom
He's become a one-man rise in crime!

(Shop owner)
I'd blame parents except he hasn't got them

(Josh)
Gotta eat to live
Gotta steal to eat
Tell you all about it when I got the time!

One jump ahead of the hitmen
One hit ahead of the flock
I think I'll take a stroll around the block

(Guards)
Stop thief!

(Apple vendor)
Vandal!

(Beggar)
Out rage!

(Shop owner)
Scandal!

(Josh)
Let's not be too hasty!

Josh runs into a fortune teller, who holds him close.

(Fortune teller)
Still I think he's rather tasty!

(Josh)
Gotta eat to live
Gotta steal to eat
Otherwise we'd get along

(Guards)
Wrong!

(All four)
One jump ahead of the hoof beats
One hop ahead of the hump
One truck ahead of disaster

(Josh)
They're quick, but I'm much faster!
Here goes, better throw my hand in
Wish me happy landin
All I gotta do is jump!

Josh leaps out of sight.

"Don't let him get away!"

After the guards fail to catch him, Josh meets up with Mark, Hayley, and Patrick.

"Sometimes it's just way too easy!" Josh told them.

"For you, maybe." Hayley said. "I gotta work on my cardio!"

"So how about you share the wealth?" Patrick said.

"The wealth?" Josh asked.

"The dough." Mark said. "The kind that's been formed into a loaf and baked."

"Sure."

Josh starts to tear the bread when two young beggars appear the apple stand.

"Go away, filthy beggars!" The owner shouted.

They start to walk away, but Josh stops them. He holds out the bread.

"Go ahead. Take it. I wasn't hungry anyway."

The beggars take the bread and eat it's

"Thanks, Joshua!"

"We can always count on you!"

Mark, Hayley, and Patrick look on, distraught.

"There goes lunch." Hayley said.

"You are you're stupid heart of gold!" Patrick cried.

"If you need us, we'll be looking for a place to starve to death." Mark added.

Josh watches as his friends walk away.

"Sorry guys, I'll make it up to you next time."
