Cade

It was the day after the dance. And the only thing Violet Baudelaire was thinking about was how odd Cade acted during the dance yesterday. There was something sinister about him. The intention in his eye was evident.

Violet's POV

"Violet! Breakfast is ready!" Isadora shouted.

"Coming" I replied.

I got my backpack and walked down the hall. Isadora was at the table along with Klaus and Duncan.

"Where's Quigley?" I asked.

"I think he's still sleeping. Wake him up, will you Violet?" Isdadora said, winking slyly at me.

"Uhh sure..." I said

I walked back down the hall and into Quigley's room. I saw him under his bed. I walked over and lightly tapped him on the shoulder.

"Quigley. Quigley wake up." I whispered

He groaned and turned over.

"Five more minutes Izzy" He moaned

"It's not Izzy, Quigley. It's Violet." I said

He woke up, suddenly.

"Oh, hey Violet" He smiled

His hair was disheveled and his eyes were tired. But he still looked cute.

"Violet, hello?" Quigley waved his hand infront of my face.

I replied with a smile "Oh, hi. Izzy said breakfast is ready so..."

He checked his watch and frowned slightly. "It's almost time for class so I don't really have time."

I looked at his watch as well. 7:45. Class started at 8:00. "Your right, Mr. Remora will be furious if I am not in my seat on time." I said

I hurried to my room and got dressed. After that, I grabbed and apple and walked out the door.

"Violet!"

I looked back and saw Quigley running toward me.

"You really thought you could leave without me?" He said jokingly

I laughed. "No, I just thought you had baseball practice"

"It's cancelled today. The baseball field is all wet after last nights rain." Quigley said

"So then what class do you have if your not in practice?" I questioned.

Quigley's POV

I looked into Violet's soft, brown eyes. She's just so pretty.

"Oh, umm, on days I don't have baseball I have to be a teachers assistant. The teacher changes each time but I think because there has been so much rain recently I might be stuck with one for a while." I replied.

We stopped at the front of the school. Well I have to go to the front office to get my assigned class so..." I said, trailing off.

"I'll see you at lunch with the others, Ok?" She replied

"Alright, have a nice day." I said.

I walked away, thought one of the corridors and into the office.

I spoke to the secretary, "Hi, i'm here to get assigned to a classroom as an assistant."

"Choose a room." The secretary said, lazily.

I rolled my eyes and looked at the list of available teachers. I skimmed the page and found the one I was looking for. Mr. Remora. I crossed off his name to let everyone know his room was taken and I was on my way.

Violet's POV

After Quigley left, I walked through the halls and into the main building. Turned a left and ran into someone.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry." I said, picking up my books

"Watch where your going next time." The voice said.

I looked up and saw Cade. He looked at me and immediately smiled.

"Oh, hey Violet!" He said, now cheerfully.

"Hi... Cade" I said.

I started to head through the door, but a hand slammed across it before I could.

"Hey I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later. We could go to the café down the block and grab a bite to eat?" Cade said, a smirk still on his face.

I grew uncomfortable. Not knowing what to say, I just stood there.

"Actually, she already has plans with me" A voice said.

I look over and see Quigley with a smile on his face. He placed his arm around me and looked at Cade, suspiciously.

"Yeah...we were going to go to..." I said trailing off.

"The movie!" Quigley finished.

I smiled, "Yeah, the movies. We always go there on Friday's!"

Cade frowned looking angrily at Quigley

"So are you going to let us into the class or what?" Quigley said

Cade moved his hand and let us into the class. "Maybe we can all go together. Me, you, Quigley, Isadora, and Klaus." He said, with his signature smirk.

"Um, I mean I think that can work out, Quigley?" I questioned.

Quigley's POV

Sometimes the thing I admire most about Violet is her worst trait. She is so kind and generous, that sometimes it can shadow her ability to say NO to people.

"Sure", I smiled, not wanting to burden her with this gut wrenching feeling of caution I had toward Cade.
