Platinum Fish

Pre time skip, after chapter 6 and sometime before chapter 7. 

-----

Byleth decided to use most of her free time trying to catch fish for the day.

She loves fishing and she had lots of Insect Lava bait to use, that could catch some pretty rare fish. 

According to the Fishkeeper, it was a good day to fish and chances of getting rare fish were pretty high. 

However... She seemed to be pretty unlucky.

The fishes shadows have been blue the whole day meaning there was some common small fish such as Airmid Goby. 

She hasn't been too successful in trying to catch a good fish despite the amount of bait she's got.

Just some disgusting Airmid Goby

Byleth sighs and had her attention to the water.

She was unknowingly there for a couple of hours, trying to catch as much fish as she could.

Later that day with Byleth only has two bait left. (Byleth was still unsuccessful)

She had her entire focus on the pond as if it was some kind of staring contest between her and the water. 

There were also now Some of the students behind her that were now watching her, finding it amusing to see her act like this over fishing. 

She saw a blue fish shadow and sighed again. It caught the bait she had and she barely tried getting it out of the water because it was once again, probably some more Airmid Goby.

Suddenly came out of the dining hall, seeing some students watch Byleth have some strange major contact with the water.

Claude was very confused on this commotion and asked one of the students around him who were watching. 

"Um Excuse me but... why is everyone watching Teach?" 

"You mean the Professor? Well, she seems to be getting frustrated about the amount of common fish she seems to be getting, some of the students find that kind of amusing. Apparently she has been doing that all day and lots of bait at the beginning of the day. Now she's got two left"

Byleth sighed at catching, once again, an Airmid Goby.

"Uh never mind, one left" The student looked down

"Huh" And claude walked towards her.

Byleth was about to fish again with her last bait until a certain house leader said something behind her. 

"Hey Teach" He greeted her like always

Byleth stopped what she was doing and slightly turned her head towards Claude "Oh um Hi Claude, Just hold on" and then went back to what she was doing.

She finally put her bait in the pond. "Ok Claude, uh whats up?" clearly not entirely focused on whatever it is he has to say.

"Well Teach- Oh I think something caught the bait" Claude's attention now shifted on her fish hook.

"Your right!" She didn't see the shadow but she hoped it was atleast red. 

She pulled the fish out.

It wasn't another Airmid Goby but it wasn't a rare fish either.

Infact it may as well be the same as an Airmid Goby because this fish was a Caledonian Crayfish. 

It wasn't a disgusting common fish to eat like Airmid Goby but it wasn't exactly a good fish to get on a day like this.

Byleth sighed, she had no more bait left and she had wasted her whole day doing that.

"Oh, Sorry Teach" Claude looked down.

"It's fine, uh there is always next time I guess, anyways did you have anything to tell me?" 

"Well, I heard you've been fishing all day with no luck, What kind of bait were you using?" Claude asked which actually surprised Byleth.

"Uh I was using a couple of Insect Larva bait, why?" 

Claude now understood the problem "Ah, that explains it, Teach why not use this spare bait I've got with me. It's a Herring Bait, you'll have a better chance at catching rarer fish that way"

Byleth seemed startled. "Are you sure I can use this?"

"Well I have no attachment to it and you clearly have more passion than me when it comes to fishing so don't worry about it Teach"

Byleth gave him a slight grateful smile "Thank you Claude" and she started using it.

They both intently stared at the fish hook in the water until they saw a shadow.

This time the colour of the shadow wasn't blue.

It was gold, meaning it could be a rare one!

Byleth started to pull out the fish from the water.

The fish was a really rare and good one to catch!

It was a Platinum Fish!

The students around them couldn't believe it and neither could she.

"Thank you so much for letting me use the bait Claude!" She said with a big grateful grin on her face

Claude smiled back at her "No Problem Teach!"

It's a good thing he found that bait randomly at the monastery that one day, he didn't expect to use it like that but he was a glad that it turned out like this.

Though he does wonder why stuff are randomly in the monastery like that but they were apparently.

A/N: Ah sorry this totally sucks but I didn't know how to start this collection of short stories and oneshots. Ahhh so sorry. 

Also that part about Claude randomly finding the rare bait at the monastery is a joke on how there is stuff like that, tea leaves etc randomly laying here in the monastery in the actual game.

I tried my best and I hopefully will improve in the future with these Claudeth stories. Also they are normally longer than this and more I guess... uh I don't whats the word to describe... I guess cute? lol I suck at wording.
