Honestly, Claude wasn't really sure how he truly felt about teach.

One thing for sure though was that she certainly was unlike anyone else he met.

It was odd because teach can wield the sword of the creator like if it was the most ordinary thing in the world, was pretty skilled at teaching and fighting and Rhea unusually places her trust in her probably more than anyone despite her lack of knowledge of the Church of Seiros.

But, it was still difficult to tell whether or not he could trust her. Or even to tell if she trusted him.

She was very emotionless and didn't really change her tone of voice whenever she spoke. It was like her heart wasn't even beating.

He didn't know much about her either...nor did she know much about him..

Claude was rather fascinated by her but also confused too. She was...very different to anyone else.

But since she wields the sword of the creator, perhaps his dream will have a much higher chance to become reality.

So he in order to use her for that.. He needs to try to help gain each other's trust and maybe even create a genuinely good friendship....

One day though, on a free day, Claude found her fishing.

Again.

Nothing too out of the ordinary.

He smirked and decided to surprise her from behind.

He stood behind her and tried to scare her like he would with Lysithea.

"BOOO!"

Byleth didn't even flinch. She just slightly turned her head towards where Claude was despite her fishing rod still being in the water.

"Oh hello Claude. What are you doing?"

Claude was a bit surprised.

He thought to himself. "Looks like she isn't scared of ghosts or surprises."

He kept thinking and was staring at her without realising it.

Byleth still tried to speak to him. "Claude? Anything wrong?"

Claude snapped out of it. "Oh Hello Teach!"

"Hi. Did you need me for anything?"

Claude slightly stretched his arms. "Er..Kind of yeah."

"What's that?"

"Can I ask you some questions?" Claude was interested in starting up a conversation for some reason.

Byleth really didn't know how to respond. "Um..sure?"

"Heh. Not even going to ask why?" Claude teased.

"No."

"Oh."

...There was an awkward silence.

Byleth waited for Claude to say something.

He eventually did. "Right. I was asking you something haha..."

"Yes you were.."

"Well..." Claude felt idiotic for not thinking of anything to ask.

"What kind of question should I ask?" He thought to himself.
