SKYLAR

The sun has finally set and we left Bens family's barbecue to Brett's bonfire. The barbecue wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. After I officially broke it off with Ben I didn't see him the rest of the night. After Mom and Nora had there little talk, everyone pretty much kept to themselves, but the tension was obviously there. We all as a group decided to leave early and go to Bretts while Mom and Aunt Stacey went back to the house.

It's half until nine now. Anna is with Brett playing a game of beer pong, and Kelly went off with Max somewhere. I think I've been a third wheel long enough, and I should probably head out now if I want to meet Gabe on time.

I walk over to Anna and Brett to give them a heads up that I'm leaving.

"Hey guys I'm gonna head out," I tell them.

"You're gonna meet up with Gabe?" she smirks, already knowing.

"Aaaw how cute. Lightweight is gonna make Gabe her whittle boyfriend," Brett pinches my cheek, and I smack his hand away.

"Shut up. We'll meet up with you guys later okay?" I roll my eyes

"Don't you think you should at least tell Kelly before you make it official?" She asked, concerned.

"I will when we get back. I don't want to meet him in a negative state. Besides he can shield me if she tries to kill me," I tease, and she laughs. "I'll see you guys later," I wave goodbye, and walk away.

"Good luck!" Anna yells, and waves goodbye.

I'm walking on the sand and the first firework comes to the sky and explodes in it's beautiful form in the colors blue, white, red, and gold, green. I look up admiring it, and smile thinking how perfect it will be when I ask him. I wanted to do it at Pirates Tower, hoping tonight it will out weigh out the bad when he tried asking me to be his girlfriend. Gabe deserves to have his vision come true.

As I walking I notice the wind is getting stronger, and it's starting to get cold. I'm only a few blocks away from my house so I decide to stop by and grab a sweater.

As I get to the house, I hear yelling coming from the inside. When I enter I see Mom yelling at a man, while Aunt Stacey is behind her holding onto one of her arms trying to hold her back.

"Robert I swear to god if you do this I will never forgive you!" My mom yells at the man.

Robert?

"Dad?" I say, unsure if it's him.

He turns around and I'm completely taken aback that he's actually here. Only he looks different, he looks scary. His hair is in a messy wave, his eyes are blood shot red, and his once trimmed beard is now longer and wild. Mom and Aunt Stacey stare at me speechless, there faces full of terror. But why?

"What's going on?" I ask, worried.

"Hey pumpkin! Did you miss me?" Dad exclaims.

"Yeah, but what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to see you of course!" He slurs.

"Are you drunk?"

"No! Well . . . a little. I had a little scotch and whiskey on the way here."

"Mom, what's going on?"

I have never seen this side of him before. My dad was a simple, well put together, loving man. Yes, he has his faults like forgetting my birthday and my graduation, but that only started happening when Cameron passed away. Yes, it hurt, but he was hurting. We all were.

"It's nothing sweetheart, your farther was just leaving. Right Robert," she glares at him.

"What's wrong Barb? You scared I'm going to tell her?" He challenges her.
