Dec's POV

"Declan! There's someone on the phone for you!"

"Tell them I'm not in!" I yelled back to my mother, turning back dismissively to the training plan I was scribbling down for Ant.

"I think it's Ant calling titch." My dad muttered absently, looking down at some business papers as he wandered past my door. I don't think I've ever made it out of my room so fast.

"Wait! Ma! Don't hang up! I'm here." I panted, rolling my wheels quickly as I made it into the kitchen by the phone.

Mam looked at me funny and as I reached her she put the phone down quickly.

"Mam what?! Was it Ant? I wanna talk to him!"

"Oh Did you? sorry honey." She said, kissing my hair and beginning to continue her cleaning. I looked at the phone with big green sad eyes, blinking at it, unable to quite process what just happened and that I'd missed my chance to talk to Ant.

I let my head drop sadly before rolling backwards and beginning to turn around. Suddenly, the phone rang sending me at lightening speed to reach up and answer it.

"Hello?" I asked quickly. I could feel my Mams eyes on me, listening Into the conversation but I didn't let it bother me.

"Decky?" Ants voice came through the other end of the phone and painted a huge grin on my face.

"Heya, what's up?" I asked, sitting back in my chair and twisting the cable around my fingers absently.

"I thought your mam said you weren't in?" He asked with a hint of amusement in his tone.

"Aye... well... I lied. I don't really ever pick up the phone... it's normally just doctors bugging me about appointments and stuff."

"Ah well... I'm not a doctor." I chuckled and bit my lip shyly, he could always make me feel better.

"You're not, so I'll let you talk. What's happening?"

"Uh well... you know Oliver tonight?"

"Aye." I grinned, getting all excited just thinking about it.

"Well I had a thought." He didn't sound like he was about to deliver good news so I stayed silent and just let him continue. "Urg... how we gonna get there? It's too far to walk."

"Oh..." i hadn't thought that bit through, I hadn't even considered it. "I hadn't thought of that."

"Aye... well could your parents give us a lift?"

"They have organised a meal with some board directors for some thingy they want to invest in." I frowned before turning around to see if my Mam was still there but luckily she'd scarpered. "I-I wouldn't want me Mam taking us anyway, she's been really uptight lately."

"I guess she's just stress."

"Yeah... maybe." I shrugged even though I knew he couldn't see me.

"So um... If your parents can't take us and my Nan and Granddad don't drive... any of your brothers or sisters in town?"

"Uhhh... I could see if any of them are available... it's a chance and I'd like youse to meet them.... give me two secs..." I put my hand over the speaker and turned in my chair to the kitchen doorway which led to the livingroom.

"DAD!!?!" I shouted.

"Aye Decky?" My dad said poking his head around the doorway.

"Are any of the fam in town? I need a lift to the theatre."
