So this chapter is based on the song 'Mrs Robinson' by Simon and Garfunkel which was written for a movie named 'the graduate.' You'll probably only know it/ them if you're British or like old stuff like I do. Anyway I believe the character Mrs Robinson in Chums was based on her which is why I was fascinated with what that were fully suggesting.

Anyway yeah that's what I've done here and sorry...

This chapter is Angsty at the end 🥺

"McPartlin! Mark your player! He's walking all over you! Robbie take it wide!! Get moving people come on! Alright that's enough! Stop! Stop you lot get over here." The whistle blew out loudly, the vibrations ringing in my ears as I slowed down to a stop and panted. I winced as my muscles protested to the exercise, I wobbled unsteadily over to coach where he looked just about ready to kick our asses into next week.

As I gathered within the group I hung my head as the yelling started. "What the hell was that?! I know this is only practice but that doesn't mean you can play like you're in preschool! Anthony, Marcus is across the field before you've even noticed he's gone, get your head in the game or get off my pitch."

Some of the guys laughed and I shot them glares while my friends shoved the younger kids to shut them up. "Chris why are you laughing?" Coach snapped and the young blonde stood up a little straighter, looking like a deer caught in the headlights.

"You think it's funny? Because if you didn't pass to your imaginary best friend the opposition wouldn't even have the ball." The young lad looked subtly humiliated, his arms crossed like a stroppy child which made me smirk and focus on coach. "Come on boys my grandma can play better then you lot and she's got two replacement hips! She basically has no hips! What happened? You all go on holiday and get soft?!"

All the guys bowed their heads and i ran a hand over the back of my neck. Maybe I'm really not cut out for all this.

"Alright you lot, get changed. I want better next week, get out of my sight." We all started walking but I stopped when coach called my name. "Ant, can I talk to you for a second?"

Robbie walked past me and patted my shoulder, "Goodluck kid." I shrugged him off, we were the same age.

I checked my watch, knowing the girls were still at after school club so I was really gonna have to run to get them. I nodded at the teacher and walked back to the older man as he started packing away the footballs.

"Yes sir?" I asked, knowing exactly what this was gonna be about. He sighed and stood up to look at me with disappointment.

"You missed our Friday session. The first one Ant. That doesn't inspire me with much confidence." I gave him an apologetic look and got ready to beg before he held up his hand to stop me from speaking. "I don't want to here it Anthony. You have one last chance to come this Friday- which is... tomorrow actually. If you aren't there then you are off the team. It about time you took some responsibility Ant." My heart sunk and my mouth went dry. I could only swallow thickly and nod as Coach patted my shoulder sadly and lifted the kit up to walk to the storage cupboard.

I'd told Dec I'd take him out to Mintys tomorrow. I hadn't seen him since last Friday and hadn't had time to call him either after school because Sarha was coming down with a cold. Also, I hate to mention it... but not seeing Dec also meant not getting paid and I didn't know if I was gonna be able to make rent this month if I kept on missing work.

I felt the fear weighing down on my shoulders but I blinked back the tears, taking a deep breath and making my way to the changing rooms. My mind was moving at a hundred miles a minute. I had to see Dec, I couldn't just phone and cancel on him but I couldn't just dump the girls on Grandma again either.
