Jack walked down the road as they noticed the militia captain. They walked up to him and he smiled at Jack and Autumn. "What can me and my daughter do?" Jack asked.

"You can patrol outside of town. Go out a few miles and loop back," the captain said.

Jack nodded and started to walk with Autumn. They went outside of the town limit. It was really quiet outside. Autumn smelled the air. Smoke. "Daddy," she said quietly.

"I know, I smell it too," Jack said.

"Should we go back?" Autumn asked.

"No, just stay by me," Jack smiled.

"Okay," Autumn said and kept her eyes open for the fire.

They kept walking. They made it two miles out before they spotted the fire. A few militia men were there with some from the elven army. They were talking about the fire.

"What's going on?" Jack asked.

"We've teamed up for the fire. Then we'll go our separate ways," one of the militia men said.

"Okay. Anything me and my daughter can do?" Jack asked.

"Well, you could try and keep it from going to Breetle or Mulberry End," another one said.

"Okay," he said and went to a spot and watched the fire. The fire went out soon afterwards. Jack and Autumn soon went back. They were an hour late. Jack knew Felicity would be worrying and stressing.
