Jack paced by the fireplace for minutes without end. He couldn't think of anything to do. Autumn sat and watched him, "Daddy, are you okay?"
"Fine, honey. I just need to think of what to do," Jack said, but continued to pace. The fire crackled on his boots, but didn't phase him.
Felicity looked down at her knitting before looking up at Jack. "What are we supposed to do?" He didn't respond, just paced. "Autumn, can you please check on Zander?" Felicity asked, stopping her work.
She went and checked on him as guards burst into the house, seizing Jack. Jack fought their grips as they grabbed his arms.
"Jack!" Felicity screamed, standing from her chair.
"Don't you even think about it!" one elf guard spat at her.
Autumn came down with her bow, "No one talks to my mom that way!" She shot the arrow right into the guards chest. As he fell she came at the other with her sword and cut him down.
"Once again, that never stops impressing me," Jack said with a smile.
Zander began to cry and Felicity looked at the guards coming towards them as Zander began to scream. Jack pulled out his sword as did Autumn. The guards stopped instantly and backed away, leaving quickly before Autumn could get her bow.
"Well, we'll have to fight our way out," Jack said, hearing Abel coming down.
"Whoa, what did I miss?" Abel asked.
"Usual," Jack winked.
Felicity went upstairs and saw Zander was missing. She ran downstairs and found Jack.
"JACK!"
"He's gone!" Autumn said, "I saw them just a sec ago!"
"Can you save him?" Jack asked Autumn.
"I can," Autumn said eagerly.
"Now, I'm trusting you can do this! You will meet us near the lake outside of town. Can you do it?" Jack asked, looking into her eyes.
"I am your daughter," she winked.
"That's my girl," Jack smiled and kissed her forehead.
Felicity looked at Jack. "What if...?"
"She's so small, she can weave her way without being noticed. She is the only one who can do this," Jack said.
She looked down. "I hope they don't hurt her, or Zander."
"They'll be fine," Jack said as Autumn went to find Zander. "Lets go," Jack said and went outside. Abel and Felicity followed him to the gate. Jack noticed two guards at the gate. "I've got this," he said and killed them both. He opened the gate, "Let's go." They ran to the lake.
