"There you are," Ben said as she walked in.
All nonchalant standing at the stove, cooking steaks like nothing was wrong.
"You lied to me." She stood in the doorway, blocking his exit.
"Look—"
"No. You don't get to make excuses. I know what you did. And I know who you are."
"Who I am? Babe—"
She pulled out a pistol and leveled it with his forehead. "Don't 'babe' me."
Before he could say another word, she pulled the trigger.
He crumpled to the floor.
She stepped over him and turned off the stove.
His lifeless eyes stared up at her.
The day's events caught up with her, sending her stumbling backward into the counter.
Ben was Bennett Rhodes. He killed all those people. He killed Barnes. And then she killed him.
It was over.
