Steve's POV

"What do you mean you found someone else to add to the team? We don't need anyone else! We can handle things just fine on our own!" Tony yelled at Fury.

"She will be an asset. And there is no going back on this, Tony. She may be only 16 but the girl has a talent," Fury answered calmly.

"She's only 16? Are you insane? This is too dangerous!" Tony fired back. I had to agree, this was no place for a 16-year-old.

"Just, give her a month to prove herself. I guarantee you'll like her and be thankful for what she'll add to the team," Nick said, "And she should be here... now."

"Director Fury," Agent Hill said, walking up to us, a teenage girl walking timidly beside her. When I saw her, time seemed to stop. Fire-red hair hung halfway down her back, fair skin without a single blemish, a tall curvy body, and striking eyes. I had never seen eyes like that before. They were blue and purple and had almost a watercolor effect with the way the colors swirled together. And to top it off there were tiny white flecks dotted in those eyes. She was absolutely gorgeous. And she was far too young for me to be thinking about her that way.

"Hi," She waved awkwardly, "I'm Melody." I had to take a deep breath; even her voice was perfect.

"Fury, you can't be serious. She's so timid. This is no place for her. I doubt there is a confidant bone in her body," Tony said and I shot him a glare.

"Correction," She said, gaining his attention, "I have an anxiety disorder and I don't do well with meeting new people. But that doesn't change the fact that I've mastered every Human fighting style. And some styles from other planets."

"It's nothing personal, sweetheart. I just don't want to see you get hurt," Tony told her and she nodded once in understanding.

"Don't worry about me," She said, walking up to him and flawlessly taking his arm and pinning it behind him so fast he couldn't comprehend what was happening. She applied a bit more pressure and I could hear the bones beginning to whine under the pressure.

"Ok, ok! I get it; you're super strong," Tony whined and she let him go. "What are you, a super soldier?"

"What? No. I'm Transmoninan. I'm half werewolf and half witch," She answered.

"Right. You're a werewolf," Tony said skeptically. She rolled her eyes and then her body shifted until a very large white wolf stood in her place.

"Ok! You really are a large dog!" Tony said, eyes widening. She shifted back and took a deep breath.

"I know you don't want me here. But rest assured, I don't want to be here either. I'm here because my presence furthers my mom's political agenda. So don't get in my way, and I won't get in yours," She told him and he nodded slowly, in shock.

"Finally, someone else who can shut him up. Come on, I'll show you to your room. I'm Pepper, by the way," Pepper said, ushering Melody down the hall.

"She's a large dog..." Tony whispered, still in shock.

"Told you she'll be an asset," Fury smirked.

1 week later

Melody's POV

It had only been a week since I had met the rest of the Avengers, but I really hadn't made any friends. At least, not as many as mom would have liked me to make. I had befriended Natasha, Wanda, and Pepper, but I was having difficulties making friends with any of the guys. They all made me nervous even though they had all been nice to me, save for Tony. He was terrified of me and tended to stay away when possible.

Nat had liked me from the moment we met, which I was told was very uncommon. She didn't like things to get personal and for her to like me so fast made things a bit easier. She said she liked my spunk and she had heard about my meeting Tony and asked to spar with me. I had agreed, and it was pretty fun fighting with someone actually on my level. I got in significantly more hits than she did but she still managed to land a few hits on me; a feat that even some of the best fighters in Transmonia were unable to claim. She made adjusting to my new life less stressful and was happy to just sit in silence with me when I needed to decompress but didn't want to be alone.

My relationship with Wanda was a little different. While Nat and I fought with our fists, Wanda and I fought with our powers. Magic went every which way, and we would usually only stop because Wanda insisted that we take a break. We would binge watch pretty much anything and everything while eating something that was definitely not good for us in any way and I had opened up to her the most. Mainly because she would infiltrate my thoughts to get a conversation started, which I appreciated. It was actually Wanda's suggestion that I start slowly with befriending the guys. Which was why I was currently in the lab with Bruce.

"Not that I mind, but what brings you down here?" He asked.

"Sometimes an extra set of eyes is helpful," I answered.

"So why are you always so nervous around the team? Have they done something to you?" He asked as we worked.

"No, they've all been really nice except for Tony who avoids me like the plague. It has nothing to do with their actions, it's just that I have really bad anxiety and it takes me a long time to warm up to new people. Especially guys, because of some past trauma."

"Why does Tony avoid you?"

"Well I almost broke his arm when I met him and he still can't comprehend that I'm a werewolf," I answered casually.

"Born or bitten?"

"Born," I smiled softly. Despite all the shit I'd gone through, my heritage was the one thing I was actually proud of.

"Are you a full-blooded werewolf?"

"No, I'm half wolf and half witch. I get the wolf side from my dad."

"You're a hybrid, then?"

"Yeah. Where I come from, it's preferred if you are a hybrid but everyone is welcome. We hate everyone equally," I joked.

"That's very progressive of you," Bruce chuckled.

"We know," I shrugged my shoulders before snickering.

Steve's POV

"We know," A familiar voice said before giggling. Melody. A week had passed since first meeting her, but my initial feelings hadn't gone away no matter how far down I pushed them. I was attracted to her, plain and simple. And she was only 16. God, what a mess this was. I refused to do anything to make her uncomfortable, and she seemed to warm up to me. She'd say hi to me in passing and a couple of times, she had had an actual conversation with me. Realistically, I knew that it didn't mean anything, but that didn't stop me from hoping that she felt something too. Even though I knew nothing would ever, or could ever, come of it. No matter how much that hurt.
