Melody's POV
"How're ya feelin', Teen Mom?" Tony asked, walking into the common room where I was reading up on Transmonian pregnancies. My mother had insisted I do research even though I'd seen her go through the process twice.
"Like a beached whale. I probably look like one too, huh?" I grinned.
"But a very beautiful one," He batted his eyelashes and I laughed. Tony was surprisingly the most supportive about my pregnancy besides Steve, obviously. Since Tony thought of me as a daughter, he saw the baby as a grandbaby and was constantly asking me if I needed anything. But, as a countermeasure, he had taken to calling me 'Teen Mom' since I was only 19. The wedding had been in August and six months later, I had turned 19. But now it was October 11th and I was ready to pop. Transmonian pregnancies only last three months as opposed to nine so my pregnancy had been rapid-fire. And it still super uncomfortable, especially since the baby had obviously gained Steve's super strength because the power of the kicks they gave should have bruised. Luckily, I heal fast, so it didn't look like Steve was beating me in secret. Something that had terrified him when the baby first kicked.
And that was another thing. The baby. Nobody but me knew the gender, and I only knew because I had had a vision. Yet another one of my many powers I often forgot about. But I had seen my baby as a teen, and I knew two things. One, the gender and two that my little one would be just as much of an emo sarcastic asshat as I was. And I was already so proud.
I had offered to tell Steve, but he wanted to wait. He enjoyed not knowing the gender and constantly guessing. For example, when the baby kicked, Steve referred to the baby as a boy but when I was getting particularly moody, the baby was a girl. Little things like that. And it wasn't just Steve who did it. Everyone in the tower was in on the little game and it both drove me insane but I also loved it. I had gotten good at being vague, sometimes joining in on fluidly gendering the baby to make sure no one knew. But I still wished Steve would let me tell him.
"Is Mr. Stark harassing you again?" Peter asked, sitting next to me, still in his Spider-Man uniform. He must have just finished his afternoon rounds.
"Always," I said, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"Hey! I was just asking how you were!" Tony defended himself.
"He called me a whale," I told Peter who glared at Tony.
"I said she was a pretty one!"
"A pretty what?" Steve asked, entering the room, some of the others following him.
"He called me a whale," I repeated, watching Tony get even more flustered.
"That is not what happened, and you know it!"
"Tony, stop screaming. It's not good for little Nathaniel," Nat said, taking a seat on my other side, placing a gentle hand on my ballooning stomach.
"Stark, stop calling her names," Steve sighed. Everyone knew I had most likely started this, but no one ever told me off. Which is why I kept doing shit like this. It was entertaining.
"Lady Melody looks positively radiant, and you would do well not to say otherwise," Thor said, and that's when I knew it had gone too far. Thor still didn't understand sarcasm. Something that greatly disturbed me.
"Thor, it's ok. He did call me a very beautiful whale after I said I was a beached one. Which, to be fair, I do look like a beached whale. I am also going to need help getting up," I said. Considering I had been sitting down but I had started to slide off the couch, I wasn't wrong. I was too bulky to get up on my own now. Stupid Steve made me get fat.
