Melody's POV
It had surprised me when my mom had allowed me to come to Earth alone. Usually, she made Leo come with me 'to protect the heir to the Transmonian throne'. But we both knew that I could protect myself. Nonetheless, I was still surprised when she agreed to let me come here on my own. I was in a remote little town in Maine, walking around town drowning in my thoughts when I smelt it. A familiar foxy scent. Kitsune.
My eyes darted around, but I found nothing. Nothing set off any red flags, but that scent was still there. It was everywhere. My nose was drowning in the scent. And then I spotted her. A petite feminine figure, with a jet black bob. She had what looked like a fox ear headband on but I saw one of the ears twitch, a sure sign that this was my Kitsune. As if that wasn't enough, I watched as her hand moved and the Earth seemed to follow. Rocks began levitating, small at first and then progressively getting bigger until large deposits of Earth followed her hand gestures.
"*Kitsune, jibun o akasanaide kudasai. Anata wa ningen ga anata ga karera no hitoride wanai koto o shiritakunaideshou ka?" I asked in Japanese, knowing full well that this Kitsune was from Tailkitx, the Kitsune kingdom on the planet Cigam, roughly 17,000 lightyears away.
"**Doko ka ni itte. Chotto tanoshi mitai dakedesu. Shikashi, anata ga watashi o jama shi tsudzukeru to, darekaga kizutsukimasu," She answered, turning to face me, her yellow eyes glowing brightly.
"***Anata o kizutsuketakunai, kitsune. Dare mo kizutsuketaku arimasen. Onamaehanandesuka?"
"Ahmya," She answered coldly, before flinging the rocks toward me. My jaw clenched in annoyance as I put my own hands up, causing the rocks to hover in midair. My powers were stronger than hers, and this seemed to surprise her.
"What are you?" She hissed, switching to English.
"Transmonian," I answered, putting the rocks where they belonged and charging at her, hitting her in the face. Hit after hit was exchanged between us, and spell after spell was cast. Never once was she able to hurt me, but it didn't take long for me to have her on the ground unable to get up.
"I warned you. Now go back home, Ahmya. Go back to Tailkitx," I ordered and she shivered at the power in my voice. She bowed in defeat and opened a portal to her home before limping through it. I sighed in relief and looked around. No one seemed to notice what had happened. No one but one man. His outfit was as black as his skin and included an eyepatch. His remaining eye was locked on me and his mouth was a tight line.
"Can I help you, sir?" I asked as he walked up to me.
"You're awful lucky nobody else saw you do that. Although, I'm not entirely sure how nobody else saw you."
"How did you see me do that? My spell should have blocked that whole scene from Human eyes," I asked, confused.
"I noticed some discrepancies and came to investigate. I saw you because I came looking for you. And now I have a proposition for you."
"I'm sorry, but I'm just visiting Earth. I have to go home in a couple of weeks," I said, slowly backing up.
"Someone who was just visiting wouldn't have put themselves in a fight like that. But I have put together a team of super-powered and highly trained people and I think you'd be a perfect candidate for new blood."
"I can't accept that without permission from my parents... I'm sorry..." I told him, still uncomfortable.
"You're how old?" He asked.
"I'll be 17 in three months," I answered.
"And what's your name?"
"Melody... Melody Lupine. And you?"
"Nick Fury. It's nice to meet you, Ms. Lupine."
"Excuse me, but who are you and why are you talking to my daughter?" My mother asked, walking up to us. I knew for a fact now, that she had Leo tail me but right now, I was happy for the save.
"Nick Fury, ma'am. Your daughter's quite talented and I was just asking her some questions."
"Translation: he wants me to join some superhero team. I said I couldn't without your permission," I told her and she nodded in understanding.
"The only way I would allow this is if I were put in contact with people who can help me integrate my people into your society."
"You're not really going to use me to further your political agenda, are you?" I asked, slightly annoyed. She shot me a look and I knew better than to say anything else.
"And I would need monthly updates on my daughter's wellbeing as well as being notified immediately if something goes wrong," Mom added.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Nick asked.
"Queen Tracy of Transmonia, land of music and hybrids. It's located on a Planet roughly 17,000 lightyears away. It's been my goal for a while now to learn things from your planet and teach things from mine."
"That could be arranged," Nick said, never betraying any emotion.
"Wait, what's happening?" I asked, feeling a little lost. There was no way my overprotective mother was selling me out to further her political agenda. Not when a lot of people could get hurt in the process. So what the fuck was going on?
"What is this team called?" Mom asked, completely ignoring me.
"They're calling themselves 'The Avengers'," Was the answer.
"Melody, you're doing this," She finally turned to me.
"You're not serious?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I am. Not only is this good for our country, and our planet, but it would be good for you to be a bit more social. Please? For me?" She asked even though we both knew I didn't have a choice.
"I get to come home whenever I feel the need to," I told her.
"Anything else?" She asked, genuinely.
"Not at the moment. I'll keep you posted," I said, looking anywhere but her face.
"Alright. You have a deal, Mr. Fury."
"I'll get you in contact with the Government within the week," Nick said, before walking off. The actual fuck just happened?
*Don't reveal yourself, little fox. You wouldn't want the humans to know you aren't one of them, would you?
**Go away. I just want to have a little fun. But if you keep distracting me, someone will get hurt.
***I don't want to hurt you, little fox. I don't want anyone to be hurt. What is your name?
