Chapter Thirty-Six

'Superman, will never save you
Spiderman, will never catch you
The Flash, will never run to you
Like I would, when I was with you'

Thea's hand blindly feels around for her cellphone. Her fingers curl around the cold screen and she dismisses the alarm. She sits upright, stretches and wipes the sleep from her eyes. She glares at her calendar for absolutely ruining her morning by reminding her that it's Monday. She flips her covers open and slowly rises from her very comfortable bed. 

Staring at her pale reflexion Thea tries to remember the last time she smiled for no reason. It feels years ago that she first met Noah and his strange friends. When in reality it was only a few months ago that all she could think about was ballet and not disappointing her mother. So much has changed... She met Thalia...the real Thalia and discovered that her mother was just as guilty as her father in their divorce.

"Don't slouch." Thea's back straightens and she leans her shoulders back. Thalia crosses around the table with the pan of scrambled eggs and offers to Thea. "No, she already resembles a walrus. No more." Thea's stomach churns with hunger but she knows once her mother decides something, she decides it finally. Her thoughts unexpectedly drift to Noah, who can barely keep any type of food down, and sadness washes over her in waves. 

"She's not going to get fat from something this small. She's barely had anything to eat." "Thalia, it's fine. Mom's right, I shouldn't eat so much." Thalia's eyes flash with fury but she refrains from saying anything else. She walks back to the stove and practically throws the pan down onto it and storms out of the kitchen. Thea's shoulders sag for a second, then she remembers her mom's instruction. 

Thea lifts quietly excuses herself and slowly walks to her room to retrieve her backpack and shoes.
