If there was one person that could intimidate me more than my own mother, it was Ariana's mom. Especially after what Ariana told me about her being overprotective.
"Y/N? Hi it's nice to meet you, my name is Joan, Ariana's mom." She reached out to shake my hand, I obliged and gave her a half smile still feeling uneasy about what was about to unfold.
Kevin looked at us and I saw his eyes widen probably wondering why Ariana Grande's mom wanted to talk to me."Nice to meet you Joan. How can I help?" I asked, hoping that she was here for other reasons than her daughter, knowing very well I was fooling myself.
"Shall we go somewhere a bit more private." She threw a quick look at Kevin's way and Kevin pretended not to hear.
"Of course, please follow me." I led her to the Spa, it was closed by now so there would definitely be no way of anyone hearing our conversation. Lucky enough, the Spa just right next to the reception so it wasn't a long walk and the silence did not last long. I unlocked the entrance and we went through.
Once inside, I motioned for her to take a seat but she declined. I was finding it hard to breath from the nervousness. Joan must have noticed because she seemed amused.
"You look like you've seen a ghost. Ariana mentioned that you got easily stressed, so I'm sorry for dragging this on and leaving you terrified like that. You're not in trouble or anything." She laughed.
Ariana had spoken about me to her mother? My confused look was most likely very apparent because she continued speaking.
"Yes, Ariana and I talk about everything. I knew you were in the room earlier today, I just didn't want to call you out and put you on the spot, I think Ariana didn't want to either. Plus, it helps having her bodyguard reporting the facts to me." She smiled at me.
"I'm sorry if I caused any problems, it was not my inte..." I started trying to justify myself.
"Dear, don't you apologize. Before coming here, Ariana was not doing so well. Let's say it like that. I meant what I said to her in the room. She needs healing at the moment. She went through a very difficult breakup and I want her to heal. Out of respect for her, and also for you, I do not want her to throw herself at you as a rebound and hurt herself and most importantly hurt you." She paused and looked at me quickly. I was hooked on every word.
"I know she came to you yesterday evening and that you hung out all night. When she woke up later that day in the morning, she was just glowing, for the first time in awhile, she seemed genuinely happy. She seems to really enjoy your company and I am so happy that she trusts you like that." She continued to tell me. "Now, you seem like someone who is very responsible and who will do the right thing. I don't object you hanging around with my daughter, I will never be the one to hold my daughter back from what she wants. I'm just asking you to be careful and take her feelings and what she's been through into consideration before you two decide or throw yourself in anything." She gave me a smile, yet sadness was behind it. There was more silence in between her sentences.
"Ariana is lost at the moment. She's trying to figure things out. I know you won't take advantage of her as other people in her life has. You just seem to give her something to look forward to and she talks so highly of you and this is only after one night of meeting you. I hope that you are able to help my daughter get herself out of the dark place she is in."
I was touched by her words, yet I felt sadness for Ariana.
"That means a lot and I am happy I can contribute to her happiness. I am very well aware of the fact she is going through some difficult times. She did mention it to me yesterday but I'm not one of these people that stalk her online or dig into her private life or anything. I don't know the details and I would never pressure her to tell me if she doesn't feel comfortable telling me about it." I replied. "She comes across as a genuine soul and I only want her healing first and foremost."
