A/N: Okay guys, I know this has been a VERY long wait. To be honest, I lost all inspiration with this fanfic and the way I took it in the last chapter was maybe not the one I had originally intended for it to go.
HOWEVER, I am NOT giving up on this story.I will work on it to take it to a place where I want it to go. This next chapter is a filer and might be a dull chapter for a long awaited updated, I am sorry in advance, but I want to get this story back on track and give you the content you originally all came here for and therefor some chapters my be short and dull but I promise it's for the greater good haha :)
I love you guys and thank you for being so patient with my stories!--------------------
The flight there had been short, or at least I felt it was short as I was too busy admiring what the inside of a private jet plane looked like.
If this was how they traveled, I certainly wouldn't mind traveling all the time. It beat the Economy class where you were fighting over which arm rest was yours if you had the misfortune of being stuck in the middle seat.
When I arrived to New York, Ariana had literally waited for me outside of the plane.
It was wonderful to be able to hold her in my arms once again. Think Ariana felt the same as I felt her holding my tightly against her.
We had gotten in her car and straight to her place for me to freshen up from the trip.
New York was certainly very different. It had been awhile that I had set foot in a really big city. I had been used to the quietness and comfort of my surroundings for far too long so it wasn't a surprise when I nearly got run over multiple times by a taxi.
Ariana had insisted on taking us to a nice restaurant to celebrate us being with one another again.
Things had been a bit different when I got there as this whole situation with her leaked album had still not been resolved. She was stressed as she had to wait a bit longer to officially release it and her record label was putting a lot of pressure on her.
"You seem really distracted." Her tiny voice interrupted my thoughts as she pulled a glass of soda close to her and wrapped her lips around the straw.
"Sorry, might be the jet lag." I lied
She eyed me up and down while still sipping on her drink. I was feeling very self conscious.
"I know that's not it." She said in a serious tone, pulling her drink away from her and setting it back down.
There was a bit of a longer silence this time as I was unsure as to what to say. It was more for her to talk than me, she was the one struggling with a leaked album.
The beginning of our conversation was cut short by Ariana's phone ringing. She looked at the caller ID and I joined in on seeing who it was.
'Scooter'
I couldn't help but frown. Think Ariana noticed as she looked at me and offered a faint smile.
"I'm really sorry, I need to take this phone call. They are investigating the leak source." She quickly explained as she picked up the phone in her hand, her thumb hanging above the slide option to pick up the call.
"No, it's alright, don't worry. I understand." I honestly said to her.
"Hey Scooter, what's up." She spoke on the phone while not breaking eye contact with me.
I could not hear what Scooter was saying over the phone so was only left to imagine the conversation with Ariana's responses. To not look like a creep, I looked outside the window and pretended to focus my attention on something else.
"Oh yeah, I know that." She said over the phone. I was focused on cars which were stopped at a red light, patiently waiting for their turn to drive again. Just like I was patiently waiting for Ariana's full attention again.
And as if she had heard by thoughts, I felt a hand placed on top of mine and slowly squeeze it. I turned my attention back to her and she was there just looking at me with full admiration in her eyes and the widest of smiles. I realized how much I had missed her in the few days we were away from one another."Not this week Scoot, I have company." She winked at me and I couldn't help but smile at her.
"No, it's Y/N. I flew her in to see me." Ariana explained. Scooter didn't seem pleased on the other side of the line. But honestly, fuck Scooter.
"Well that's not up to you is it?" Ariana's voice grew strained at the beginning of this argument.
"No, she did not leak my album, why would you even suspect her." Ariana became a bit flustered, probably from beginning to be angry.
'A bit rich Ari' I thought to myself as she had also suspected me of doing the same just the other day.
I quickly shook my head and these thoughts away."I just know she didn't. I trust her." Ariana said, very sure of herself.
Couldn't help the butterflies in my stomach to cause a little bit of a storm. I was happy that she had quickly dismissed the idea of me leaking the album, even though I had solid proof it wasn't me.
"What the fuck Scoot? I told you it's not her!" Ariana raised her voice this time, which got the table next to us to quickly throw a glance at us. This time it was my turn to put my hand on top of Ariana's hoping it would calm her down a little bit.
She noticed my action and in her distressed state she looked at our hands intertwined and seemed to calm down a little bit.
Scooter was being a little bitch.
Suddenly Ariana just hung up the phone without any goodbyes or seems of having resolved the situation.
"I swear, sometimes I should have never rehired this guy." Ariana said slightly slamming her phone the table and rubbing her temples in exhaustion.
"What happened?" I tentatively asked, not wanting to be too nosy, but I mean, my name did get mentioned in the conversation and I believe that gave me the right to know.
"He blamed the leak of the album on you. He's been trying to convince me it was you all this time." Ariana said, sighing and picking her drink back up.
"Well I'm glad that you stuck by me and defended my case there." I said appreciatively, squeezing her hand gently.
"Of course. I'm really I accused you the other day. I just didn't know where my mind was." Ariana said; a hint of regret in her voice.
"I get it. Even if I wasn't too pleased with it at first, I get it. I don't blame you." I offered support.
After all, we had not known each other for that long yet and it was alright to doubt someone who had just entered your life, especially when you were an internationally known singer. It must be hard to know who to surround yourself with.
"I just want to put this thing aside for now and just enjoy you and your company tonight." She said softly, looking at me straight in the eyes and smiling.
I could only smile and nod at that decision.
"I could also definitely use a second round of Asti!" I said as Ariana laughed and squealed in delight of getting to order another bottle of her favourite drink.
