Cookies

After another week of school, Heather now had Snotlout interested in her. All she had to do was his homework. Tom and Tuffnut were ecstatic about the Dragon Racing game that was the next day, Friday. And on Thursday, Jack found out something interesting.

Apparently, they all got to go to the corrination. There was just one problem. Only Hiccup's parents and his girlfriend were aloud at the front. The rest were placed on how close they were to the family. But Jack had a devious plan in mind. A love potion.

"So, why is it for you and not Heather?" Tom asked. They were able to be in the kitchen to make the cookies, so long as they didn't do anything else and went to bed right after. It was Heather's idea to make the potion into cookies. Easier to get someone to eat if they are sweets. Pointers from her mother.

"Because, " Jack answered, "he's already shown an interest in me." That was half of the reason. The other he would never admit out loud. Heather eyed him skeptically, but said nothing on her skepticism.

"And besides, I have Snotlout, " Heather said, backing Jack up. The look she gave the other two said to not push further.

"Ok!" Jack exclaimed. "All We need now," Jack checked the list, "is a tear."

"I got it! We chop onions!" Tuff yelled as though he were a genius.

"It says a tear of human emotion."

"Same thing, " Tom said, annoyed. He was tired and wanted this over with.

"That's not true, Tom. They both have antibodies and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear." Tom stood shocked and Jack stood proud of his best friend.

"Look at you." Tom tried to play it off like he knew all along. No one believed him. Just then, Marco came in. Jack hid the book with an oven mitt just as he reached the table.

"I thought I smelled cookies, " Marco said.

"The cookies you smell are from earlier. We haven't even started baking. We need one more ingredient, but we can't find it." Jack explained. He didn't want the kid to know their plan.

"Well, have you thought about chips?"

"Why? Aren't those usually salty?" Tuff asked. Marco laughed.

"No, I mean chocolate chips. They should be..... Ahh!" Marco must've already known where they were because he went to a pantry with a purpose. "My mother comes to the school to cook on holidays and family day and she always has me cook with her. I know this kitchen like the back of my hand."

Marco added the little brown things and continued to talk about how much fun he had cooking with his mother. "I remember one time, I was walking with a ton of stuff in my hands and I tripped," He was trying to hold back his laughter, "and I knocked some flour on us! It took us hours to wash the stuff off and even longer to stop laughing. Oh, oh."

Marco finally finished his story and laughing. "So, do you guys have any fun kitchen stories?" When he was met with confused faces, he asked "what?"

"Yeah, we don't really do that on the isle, " Jack explained, embarrassed.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know." Tom had been standing next to Jack and saw a tear roll down the brown eyed boy's face. Without thinking he wiped the tear from Marco's face. To make it look not like a caring thing to his friends, he discretely threw the tear in batter.

"Ok, well we really need to get these in the oven, " Tom was pushing him out of the kitchen to hide the boy's blush and his. "I'll see you tomorrow before the game." When he was out the door, they all started making the cookies.

In the afternoon before the game

"They're evil, Hiccy. How many times do I have to tell you?" Merida was walking arm in arm down the hall.

"As long as you believe that, " Hiccup retorted. He was a bit more bitter towards her since the kiss with Jack. He hated how she kept insulting Jack and his friends. Merida rolled her eyes.

"Whatever, I have to go to practice. See you after the game." Merida kissed him on the cheek and hurried off. Hiccup felt the side of his cheek. The kiss felt so wrong. Before his thoughts lingered, a locker slammed shut.

"Hey, 'Hiccy', " Jack said, casually leaning on his locker. Hiccup looked releaved, but embarrassed at the nickname.

"Please don't call me that."

"Why? Merida does."

"I don't like it."

"Then tell her. I'm sure she'd understand. Isn't that the whole thing here?" Hiccup looked as though he couldn't be more embarrassed.

"I don't want to upset her. Have you seen her with a bow and arrow?"

"Ok!" Jack could hear a bit of panic in his voice. It was a good thing the school had emptied for the game. That was why he had chosen this time to give Hiccup the cookie. Less likely for Hiccup to look at someone else. "Here." Jack pulled out the bag of cookies.

"So that's why I smelled cookies last night." Hiccup looked happier at the change of topic.

"I think this is enough to make up for my lack of courtesy." Hiccup eyed him playfully.

"So, you made these on the off chance you would embarrass me?" Hiccup smirked.

"Alright fine. I was gonna give you one anyway." Jack smiled as Hiccup opened the bag and took a bite of a cookie.

"Mmm! This is really..... R-really, " Hiccup got lost in Jack's eyes. Hiccup swallowed. "Jack, have you always had those little snowflakes in your eyes?" Jack blushed. Then Snotlout came running in, saying that Gobber was mad at him for being late. Jack and Hiccup parted, heading to their respective places.
