As we approached the battered looking barnyard, I felt a hand tug me back.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
I didn't answer her, but instead kept on walking until I reached the big double doors. I needed that phone back and chances are its in the barn somewhere. I pull the metal bar and the heavy door swings open with a loud screeching noise.I look at Sophie as if to say 'after you'.
She got the memo and walked in front of me onto the crisp hay beneath our feet.Inside, everything seemed to be the same except it was a lot clearer to see this time around because of the lack of cigarette smoke. I followed close behind Sophie as she kept her eyes drawn toward the floor in case she accidentally stepped on my phone.
"Why did you come back here?" Sophie asked me again.
There was a silence as I honestly didnt know the answer."...To see me obviously..."
A voice came from somewhere in the barn.
His voice.
I looked at Sophie who cocked her head in confusion. Soon after, Liam came walking out from a dark corner, a massive smirk on his face.
I was shaking uncontrollably.
"You!" Sophie half yelled at him. "Your still here? Of course you are, what am I saying. From your credentials you weren't really going to go far out of the village, were you"
Sophie was on a roll and all I wanted her to do was shut up. This wasn't the time nor the place to start acting like the hero. Liam slowly started to move over to Sophie and lightly placed a finger over Sophie's lips, and she froze.
"You always did talk too much" he muttered pursing his lips.
Those lips.
"Get off me!" Sophie pushed his arm away. Liam laughed his crazy laugh in response and we took a step back from him.
"Where's your freak...I mean friend Mark these days?" Sophie asked him, as if she were having a normal conversation with someone in the shops. Is she for real right now?
"He's good, luv. He still lives up the road from me. Ay, he misses you" he winks at Sophie and she practically melts on the spot.
Mark and Sophie used to go out for a bit, but it wasnt anything out of a fairtale. They weren't good for each other at all. They were always getting into trouble. Or should I say HE was always getting HER into trouble.
"Well you can tell him that I'm staying up here for a while" she blushed.
Was she being serious? Why would she tell him that? I knew what was coming next.
"Oh really? And what about you then, Ellie-berry?" He smirked.
I shivered.
That name.
