Minho was always a happy kid. He loved to learn everything about everything but when he got into pre school he realized that it was getting harder for him.
"Mommy why are their clouds indoors?" Minho asked to his Mother.
"Clouds? Where? Clouds aren't indoors sweetie." Ms. Lee said with a smile.
"Yes there are clouds! There is always clouds. Always in three parts of every picutre!" Minho had always referred to his field of vision as a picture, he always said he wanted to draw every single one he ever saw.
Ms. Lee was mildly concerned now. Why is it that her son was having his vision fogged over? She decided that it would be best to get her son checked out at the hospital.
-
"Im sorry but your boy will be blind within the next six months." The doctors said to both of them.
"What? Why!?" Ms. Lee exclaimed. Minho had done nothing to deserve this? Why did this happen to a beautiful little boy who loved learning and taking in everything he saw to the fullest. Minho saw beauty in everything, and now.. he wouldn't be able to see at all.
"Your son has a condition called macular degeneration. It usually occurs in the elderly but there is some cases where it can show up in early life. Usually there is treatment or surgery that can be done but.. because he is so young... we won't be able to do anything to stop it. His brain and body is still developing and so we worry that the medication we would be giving him could make him have other issues down the road such as autism."
Minho began to cry. "Momma I don't wanna be blind! I don't wanna! I don't wanna!" He sobbed and sobbed and clung onto his mother for support.
"It's okay baby." She said hugging him back so tightly and crying herself now. "It'll all be okay, I promise."

The next day at school Minho wanted to tell his best and only friend, Jisung, about the terrible news.
"Hannie! I have a bad thing." Minho said with a concerned look on his face.
Jisung cocked his head to the side in confusion, "What bad thing? Are you okay?" Jisung scooted closer to Minho intently.
"Hannie.. I'm gonna be blind soon." Minho said with a frown. "I won't be able to see you or draw the pictures anymore." With that Minho began to cry.
"Minho it's okay! I'll always still be your friend and you'll always have your memories right?!" Jisung said, trying to cheer him up. "Is there anything you really wanna see?"
"You. Forever.. and the stars." Minho looked up as if he would see the stars though it was daytime. "Jisungie, what shapes do you see in the clouds?"
"Minho.. there are no clouds."

That night Minho had came over to Jisungs house to spend the night, both sets of parents thought it would help to get Minho's mind off things.
It was mid fall weather so it wasn't terrible outside but still cold enough to have to wear a coat. Jisung had a plan. But he wouldn't tell Jisung just yet.
After a long day of playing and eating snacks, Minho fell asleep. Jisung made sure not to let himself fall asleep though, or that would ruin his idea.
Once night fell and the stars started littering the sky, Jisung decided to start. He began taking piles of blankets out the the backyard, which took multiple trips due to him being so little, Jisung was the second smallest in the pre-school class after all, next to a boy named Changbin.
But after Jisung was satisfied with the mini bed he had made in the backyard, he went back inside to get the sleeping Minho.
"Minho! Bubby wake up!"
"Hm?" Minho said with a confused look.
"Come with me I have a surprise." Jisung grabbed his hand and lead him out to the backyard where his present was. "Do you like it Minnie? Now we can watch the stars and fall asleep together and you can remember what they look like!"
"Yay! Thanks Hannie!" Minho pulled Jisung into a huge hug.
They laid down on the layers and layers of blankets and put some more over them for warmth. When they looked up, they saw the most beautiful array of the stars they had ever seen, fate was on their side and gave them a quiet, dark night where it seems every star and every meteor was visible up in the cozmos.
"Look Hannie it's a shooting star! Make a wish." Minho told him thoughtlessly.
"I wish that we can stay together forever. I won't leave you and you won't leave me. I wanna stay soulmates forever." Jisung said turning over and giving Minho a hug. Minho hugged him back and Jisung fell asleep within seconds. Minho struggled to stay awake. He was trying to force himself to in order to remember the stars the very best he could. But soon he drifted off to a peaceful, thoughtless slumber.

Minho's vision did belittle with every passing day. But, this didn't tear a wedge between Jisung and Minho. All throughout elementary and Junior high Minho and Jisung were inseparable.
Minho lost his vision completely the summer after pre-school ended.
Now was the senior year in high school, it hadn't been an easy road for either of them but they had made it and made some other really great friends along the way. They also didn't judge Minho or shame him for anything. They are an amazing support system and would fuck anyone up who tried to mess with Minho.
Minho had learned to find happiness in the present. He would always have fun when Jisung and the rest of his friends were around or when he was learning, he always did learn quickly and easily.
But a piece of him longed to be normal, to see again, to see the stars again. To see Jisung again.
That was his one true desire. His only wish.
