• Chapter 12 •
Leaving the recovery room with a busted, bandaged nose and a dull ache all over my face, I can feel the eyes only zooming in on me as I walked down the hallways with a furious Stephen by my side. I didn't mind comment anything he said under his breath out of anger, he has his position to fear about so I can't really blame him for shitting himself over the attack that happened.
Staring down at my moving feet, all I could think of was Harry. He wanted a name, he looked angry and worried about me when he clearly shows he's not into opening up to others. He doesn't want to be left alone, he wants my company, but doesn't want me to know more about him, yet he looks so determined to take care of a situation that has to do with me.
Excitement and curiosity has been growing stronger by the second. I don't know what he's going to do, or why exactly he demanded to know who dared to attack me, but I'm eager to find out. Slighlty lightheaded, I am stunned to the core when two firm hands pulled me to a halt by grabbing tightly my shoulders.
I looked up with wide eyes, my instict to react with defense kicking in but calming down when I was met with two familiar green, worried eyes. My heart however jumped around when I saw the anger spreading all over his features, jaw clenched tightly.
"Are you okay?!" Logan shrieked, his eyes scanning my face intently.
I didn't even have to glance at Stephen to realize he was as stiff as a tree, shifting his weight from foot to foot in nervousness and fear. However, I did feel bad for the poor guy, he's going to get it bad for something he wasn't even aware of. I do have a love-hate relationship with this gu but I wouldn't want him to get fired over something so small. Besides, I didn't die, so a busted nose isn't that much of a serious deal.
"I'm okay, Logan, don't wo-,"
"Where the fuck were you?!" Logan ignored my reply and yelled angrily at Stephen, who looked down at the ground with flushed red cheeks.
"He was getting my food - it's none of his fault." I jumped in, literally stepping in front of Stephen and staring right into Logan's hard eyes.
He gently pushed me to the side, making frustration wash through my body, but also making me realize that it's not in my power to do much. Stephen raised his head and looked up at Logan with clear frustration and embarrassment.
"Sir, I ran to her the moment I saw her-,"
"You shouldn't leave her out of your sight!" Logan hissed, veins bulging out beneath the skin on his neck.
"Sir, I couldn't do-,"
"This is the second time you don't follow orders!" Logan cut him off again, making me roll my eyes and feel very bad for Stephen, who was staring down at the ground with a clenched jaw and red cheeks. Many officers walked by, giving us weird looks.
"Logan stop!” I raised my voice, causing everyone around to look at me shocked, even Logan, who turned his head and looked at me as if I had just slapped him right across the face.
The look of anger, shock, hurt and embarrassment was so clear that I actually felt stupid for having the guts to raise my voice to him, in front of other officers. From the corner of my eye, I saw the officer that's responsible for Harry, smirk mockingly and look at me with amusement. However, I couldn't stop the guilt slowly eat up my chest for the way I embarrassed Logan.
On the other hand though, I felt proud for sticking up for someone who shouldn't be embarrassed for trying to do the right thing.
Logan clenched his fists, his shoulders shaking as his green eyes turned to hurt. I felt my heart burn slowly with each thud and the gazes around us were only multiplying and the tension in the air only intensified.
