The next year went by fast. Our baby girl was growing up way way too fast. She is already walking, saying simple words, and even throwing huge fits. I haven't heard much from Kira and Oswaldo. They have shut out the world, since loosing their baby. I guess I would too, but it's been almost a year. I just going to go over and see how everything is and also invite them to Maria's first birthday party.
I knocked on the door and said, "It's your favorite neighbor!"
I see a figure stand in front of the door and it finally creeps open.
"Hey Tara how have you been?" Oswaldo said.
"Good, but where is Kira? I was hoping we could talk." I explained.
"You can come in she's up in our room." He answered.
I climbed the stairs with nerves jumping through my body. Is she okay? Is she pissed at everyone around us? I knocked on the door with the edge of my knuckles.
"Come in." Kira said.
I flew in and sat right next to her.
"Hey." I said with a grin.
"Hi. Sorry I haven't spoke to you I'm just..." and her thoughts faded way trying to speak of it.
"It..its okay I get it. I understand, but you could of texted me back. I thought... i thought something bad happened." I cried.
"No I'm fine. So Maria is turning one tomorrow. Aren't you excited?" She said smiling.
"Yes and you guys are coming? Being your her godparents." I explained.
"Yes we are and I already have a gift." She said.
I watched her climb out of bed and didn't expect what to see. How could she of not told me.
"Umm is there something you need to tell me?" I asked quickly.
"Oh this. Yeah I'm pregnant." Kira blurted.
"How? When? Why?" I asked.
"It wasn't my idea and it just happened. I'm only 24 weeks. Are you mad? Just tell me if you are." she explained.
"No I'm not mad. I'm just surprised. How's you know who taking it. Have you told your parents." I said.
"He is fine. We were both terrified at first but now we have faith. I told my parents about how we lost our first baby and they weren't mad I didn't tell them. When we found out about it, I told them right away and my parents were so happy." She said.
I gave her lots of hugs and headed back to my house. I wondered why she didn't tell me. I am her best friend. I laid down to get some rest before tomorrow's big day.
I woke up to a yelling one year old little girl. I rolled over and kissed Alberto and said, "The little screecher is awake. Seems like she already knows it's her birthday." I said smiling.
I rolled out if bed and hit the showers. I slid into the warmth of the water. I struggled to get out, because the water just felt so nice. I put on this nice dress and walked to Maria's room.
" Hey chica! Let's get you dressed for you big day." I said picking her up.
She looked at me with her big brown eyes and barely spilled out, "Mama!"
My eyes over flowed with tears. I picked her up and walked down stair. Alberto had everything decorated. I was so happy. The cake was already here and all we had to do was wait for the guest. Alberto's parents were the first ones to show.
"Hi it's good to see you how have you been." I sad hugging his parents. My parents showed up with a huge present they always did that.
"Hey my only daughter how are you" my dad joked.
I leaned in and hugged him. I kissed my moms cheek and watched as are friends and family pilled into the house. I scanned the room and noticed Kira and Oswald weren't here yet.
"Hey look at Kira." Alberto said pointing out the window.
"Is she coming?" I asked quickly.
All of a sudden they walked in everybody stared and look surprise. Kira's parents were there too because they loved Maria ever since they knew she was born.
"Babe did you know? Did you know she was pregnant!"Alberto asked quickly.
"Yeah she.....ssshe told me yesterday." I said quickly.
He had a little hate in his eyes, I could tell. He walked over to Oswaldo and pulled him by his arm. I knew something was going to happen. All I saw was two brothers hugging. Kira was really starting to show. She looked like there was a little volleyball growing inside of her. As the party started to end Maria was getting pretty tired. She started rubbing her eyes, dragging her blankly around, even laying on the floor with her butt up in the air. I motion everyone to leave because Miss. Maria is getting tired. Everyone left and Maria was sound asleep. I climbed into bed next to Alberto.
"Babe all I keep thinking is, this year went by so fast." I said hugging him.
