Naruto's Pov:
'Something's up with Dei. I'm sure of it.' I thought to myself as I searched through the medicine cabinet, looking for some Tylenol to give to my brother.

Earlier this morning, I found him on the floor beside an empty bottle of vodka, cussing about his hangover and somebody named Uchiha.

Another thing that I found, was a post-it note on the fridge asking me if I wouldn't mind staying home from school today . I handed my brother the small pill and helped him get to his bed.

I texted Sakura to tell her that I wouldn't be at school today and observed my very, very, hungover brother. "No work today?" I asked.

I was given a low pitched "mm hmn"as a response that I'm going to assume was a yes, as Deidara wrapped a pillow around his head and turned away from me.

Last night, he came home with a bruise on his forehead, out of breath, looking like he just ran a marathon, and the worst part was,
he looked scared.

And the way he looked at that news report...he was there. I'm sure of it. 'I know that he's involved with the wrong people' I thought.

A couple hours later, Deidara walked downstairs looking ashamed.

"Sorry about that." He said, staring down at the floor in front of him.

I wanted to know what was going on. I wanted to tell him that me getting into a university wasn't worth whatever he was doing with all of those shady people.

But I couldn't. "No big deal." I said, flashing him a smile.

Deidara was in the car during the accident. I wasn't. It left him with some pretty bad scars.

When he wasn't old enough to take custody of me, our godfather Jiraiya did but he only visited us every once in a while, and gave Dei custody once he was old enough.

He never asks for help. And that really pisses me off. Iruka sensei keeps offering for us to live with him (even though he probably can't financially support us both), Deidara just refuses and goes back to busting his ass working at that sketchy job of his.

It's like he thought that the only reason he survived was that so I had someone to support me, and he takes that roll very seriously.

Even though I'm sixteen, when I offered to get a part-time job to help; he hit me on the head with a rolled up newspaper and told me to study.

I was brought out of my thoughts by an angry Deidara cussing into his work phone and throwing it onto the counter.

"I'm sorry. Something came up at work." He said.
I watched as Dei ran up the stairs and came back down with a hairbrush and a navy duffel.

"Am I still staying home?" I asked. 'I'm still unsure why I'm staying home in the first place.' I thought to myself, watching as my brother exchanged his dirty hoodie for one that didn't smell like sweat and vodka.

"Yes. Stay inside and only open the door for friends. Also, don't open the door to any tall hot guys with black hair. If you see him, you need to take the baseball bat, and leave through the back door, un. You got that?" He asked.

"Yeah, yeah. Don't leave the house unless I'm running from a hot guy. I got it." I said.

'I guess that explains who this Uchiha guy is.' I thought, trying to picture him in my head.

Deidara drew the blinds before waving a quick goodbye and leaving out the back door.
