31| Eat or be Eaten: Panic at the forest

Previously-

A puff of smoke surrounded Naruto and reviled a ninja, "All right, you got me. So what? I'm still gonna take your scroll. Now hand it over, or else." He threatened.

Sasuke righted his grip on the weapon as Sakura pulled out hers. Natsumi cracked her knuckles with a challenging smirk.

"So, which on of you has it?" The ninja said. He hugged when he received silence as his answer, "Fine then, I guess I'll just have to take you all out!"

Sasuke quickly jumped into action, making various hand signs, "Fire style! Phoenix flower Jutsu!" He shouted as fireballs flew out of his mouth.The ninja dodged the attacks with great speed. He quickly got to Sasuke, Kunais clashing together.

"Hey! Get me out of it!" Naruto's calls for help caught Sasuke's attention.

'Little idiot.' Sasuke expertly threw a knife at Naruto, successfully cutting the ropes Naruto was bound with.

"Thank you!"

The opposing ninja chuckled darkly, "Better keep your mind on the game."

He three a handful of kunai knives at Sasuke who used a tree branch he was hanging from as a shield. His onyx eyes widened as he notices one in particular hanging in front of him.

"A paper bomb!?"

The bomb soon exploded which sent Sasuke falling towards the ground. With a grunt, he landed on all fours on the ground.

The ninja suddenly appeared behind him, "Sorry. This is one test you fail. Now, hand over the scroll, or you die."

"Sasuke!" A very worried Sakura exclaimed.

The said male chuckled which caught the confused attention from the enemy. Before he could act, he was suddenly punched hard in the face. The force was so strong he was sent skidding across the ground, losing his kunai knife in the whole process.

"Forgot about me already? Sorry, but you'll have to go through me before killing any of my friends." Natsumi said, a confident but cold and serious smirk decorating her features. She didn't hesitate to get into her combat stance.

Sasuke furrows his brows, confusion written all over his face. She has her own weapons right? So, why isn't she using them?

"Heh. Gladly." The opposing ninja said, pulling out another kunai knife.

As soon as he took a step towards Natsumi, a kunai suddenly shot through the air, aiming for the ninja. He quickly dodged it.

Naruto emerged from his hiding spot in the trees and landed on the ground, "Oh no you don't! Get away from her!" He exclaimed.

Natsumi grinned with relief, "Hey, Naru! Glad you're alright!" She turned towards Sasuke, both of them nodding as soon as they made eye contact, "It's time to finish this."

Focusing her chakra to her feet, Natsumi shot forward in a blink of an eye towards the enemy ninja. Again, before he could react properly she kicked him harshly, sending him in the air. Not long after that, Sasuke jumped with a kunai, his sharingan visible as he was quick to stab the ninja.

"Are you all right?" Sakura called out from her position on the ground.

"Don't just stand there, Sakura!" Sasuke yelled. Sakura gasped from his sudden outburst.

"He's right, Sakura." Natsumi added as she faced her with a frown, eyes cautiously scanning their surroundings, "There's a big change that his friends might be hanging around. We have to keep our guard up. They could strike us any second."

The ninja pushed away from Sasuke, covering up the wound he received, "I wish..I came alone so as not to arouse suspicion. Big mistake." With a groan he fled.

Natsumi ran up to Sasuke as he landed on the ground, "Aw man, he got away."

"Yeah, so much for him. For now." Sasuke replied with a frown.

Natsumi placed a warm hand on his shoulder, "But the good thing is that you and the others are ok. That fight was pretty intense."

Sasuke's expression turned soft, "Yeah. It's good that you're ok too. Thanks." He glanced over at his other two teammates. He could care less about how Sakura was feeling. But Naruto has a glare aimed towards him. It got more intense as Sasuke sent him a smug look.

The raven haired boy couldn't help but let his amusement grow by the second.

Aha! The semester is over and winter break has started! I'll try to update at least one more time before school starts up again! Toodles
