Finely Stone;

Everyone froze.

The maid who was pouring red liquid into Ethan's glass looked up at stared at me, causing her to almost spill the drink all over Ethan. Abigail who was siting next to Ethan, let out a yell, causing Ethan to stand up abruptly.

"Clean this up as quick as possible!" Abigail ordered immediately.

The servants, who were frozen with trays in their hands, were snapped back into reality by Abigail's screaming. They all hurriedly placed the trays onto the table.

"Don't let her get to you." Grayson whispered in my ear, giving my hand a light squeeze.

Grayson led me towards the other end of the table where Tyler and another Vampire I didn't recognise were sitting. Grayson pulled out a chair for me, I smiled gratefully and sat down. Grayson sat down next to me.

I watched as Abigail got out of her seat and sat down directly across from me. She glanced over at Ethan, "Ethan, why don't you sit here?" She suggested. It seemed like he had been listening to her every word and he just nodded and sat down next to her.

I was contemplating on whether or not I should stay or get up and leave, but I realised I shouldn't give him the satisfaction of having control over me. His actions didn't affect me, I wasn't going to be a coward, rubbing away from him just because I felt tears form in my eyes every time I looked at him.

Grayson placed a plate of food in front of me, I thanked him and picked up my fork. I found myself looking in his direction. Our gaze was fixed on each other for a few seconds but it seemed like it had an impact on him. I watched as his fork fall out of his hand, hitting the plate with a loud bang. His eyes looked confused as he looked away from me, darting around the room.

"How did I get here?" He demanded.

His question wasn't directed at anyone in particular, but everyone looked at each other confused.

I heard Abigail break the silence by laughing casually. "Ethan, you've been sitting here for the past few minutes."

He shook his head, like he couldn't make out what she was even saying to him. "No, I was in my room, then you—"

He pointed a finger at Abigail, but before he could say anything else, the servant who was walking by the table, suddenly tripped. Or maybe it was planned. The way Abigail sneakily pushed back her chair a little, didn't go unnoticed by me. The sudden movement caused the servant to hit his feet on the leg of the chair, hence falling over. The stack of plates he was carrying came crashing down with him.

She stood up, "What's wrong with all you people today?! First the maid is spilling blood all over the table and now this? Get your head out of the clouds!"

The young servant muttered a sorry as he started to pick up the plates, with shaking hands. I could tell he feared these people, so he might be a human.

"I've lost my appetite." Ethan stated as he stood up and simply walked out of the dining room without a glance in my direction.

The sound of music woke me up from my sleep. The music was soft and slow, but eventually it picked up the pace a little. Curiosity got the best of me, and I pushed the covers off me. I felt at peace, like the music was making me relax.

I stepped into the hallway, following the music. Eventually, I stopped in my tracks in front of the room which the music was coming from. It was the locked room that Grayson had shown me. If the room was locked, then how was music coming from inside?

I heard footsteps coming from the end of the hallway, and just when I was about to make a run for it, his face came into my view. He said nothing, standing there watching me, again.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me.

"I heard music..." I trailed off, looking away from him.

"Sounds like someone is playing the flute in there." Ethan said, looking at the door.

"Who?" I asked.

"Ghosts."

My eyes widened and he laughed at my scared expression. "Not funny." I glared at him.

"I'm surprised you can hear it too." He told me. "No one else has ever been able to hear it, not even Grayson. I hear it all the time, but whenever I tell anyone about it, they say they have no idea what I'm talking about it."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Open the door and find out whose out to get you." I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Are you insane? We have no idea what's inside there. The last time someone went in there, they didn't come back out."

"Don't tell me you're not curious as to what's inside that room." I saw him hesitate. "Or are you scared, you know, of the ghosts?" I teased. Ethan stared at me, almost like when I was yelling in pain and he just stood there. It made me angry. "Will you stop looking at me like that?!" My voice raised.

"Like what?" He shoved his hands into his pockets.

"Like you did last night when I was screaming in pain right in front of you. And what did you do? Stand there and watch me! You didn't even help me. Do you have even the smallest bit of empathy?"

He looked as confused as he didn't at the dining table. "You were in pain? When?!"

I rolled my eyes. "How mature. Pretend you don't know what I'm talking about instead of answering my question."

He shook his head. "Yesterday after I left you, I went to my office for the day. Then I went to get ready because I promised you I'd take you out, but then Abigail came in. I don't remember anything except that. I don't know what's happening to me, okay?! I didn't even know I was at the dining table, it was like I snapped back into reality the second I looked into your eyes!"

It made sense. It was like he snapped back into reality when we looked at each other.

Ethan reached into his pocket, pulling out a key. "You sure you want to go inside?" He asked me.

"Yes, just hurry up."

"Relax, I don't want you clinging onto me when we see any ghosts." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes. "I would rather let them tear me to pieces than be anywhere near you."

I knew it was a lie, but he didn't an enlargement of his already huge ego.

He shrugged, shoving the key into the lock.
