Chapter 13

Shikikan: Akagi..let me go... if you don't I won't be able to stop myself anymore.

Akagi: Why do you force yourself to stop? let's just forget everything and become one.

Shikikan turned around and held Akagi's hand. He looked her in the eyes and said...

Shikikan: I have never known what it feels to be loved. The only things that I ever held dear were my family, comrades and my country. I have never been in love before and I am too afraid of it. No woman has ever before made me feel like this, but you... Akagi...

Akagi: We were destined to meet. I knew at first sight that you were the one I've been looking for my whole life. The night I met you, I was right here in my deep meditation when I smelled her...I was taken over by anger and once my anger takes over me, I destroy anything and everything around me. I couldn't stand her and I decided to destroy her once and for all. But when I was finally there, from the cover of clouds I saw you, leaning back like that. I didn't let myself get distracted and decided to take you out silently first, but when I got closer to you I...I couldn't resist your smell, so with a gentle hand, I touched you.....

Akagi: The moment I touched you, all my anger just vanished, my heart was at peace. Even when she fired her arrow at me, I couldn't take my eyes off you and when I saw your eyes.....at that moment I knew.....I loved you.

Shikikan couldn't say a word, he was speechless. It was his first time getting confessed to and he didn't know what to say so he just kept on listening to her.

Akagi: Shikikan sama... I know that you have a goal in life. You have a responsibility and duty to perform after all you chose it yourself. I may not be as important to you as several other things but you are my everything. Before you, I had only loved my dear sister Kaga but when I was brought to this world, I didn't remember a thing and when the sirens gave me my memories back....those memories made me insane. I couldn't differentiate between past and present. The people I had been calling my comrades were responsible for my sister's and my friend's death. I still was ready to forgive everything and move on. All I had asked was for Kaga to be brought into this world. He had promised me that he would bring her.....but that was just a lie. He had every chance and means necessary to bring her but he didn't and so I had to turn to Sirens. The sirens asked me to leave the Azur lane and no longer fight this war for either side and I believed them, only to be backstabbed again. They used her hull design to make new weapons and ships making them powerful and after this, I couldn't take it anymore so in anger I destroyed every single siren who lied to me, I killed them all and enjoyed it. Having nowhere to go I thought I would be accepted back in Azur lane, but they said I had killed the siren leaders who were negotiating for peace and the last attempt to stop the war with sirens was lost because of me.

Akagi: Shikikan sama, I hate to do this but there is no way I am going to let you go. I won't be able to live without you.

Shikikan: I will have to go someday and I want to take you with me. Akagi, I think I can love you, no, I know I will love you if you come with me. I promise I won't let anyone harm you. The Admiral must have had his reasons for not bringing Kaga to this world and I know he feels sorry. He himself sent me to bring you back don't you understand? Kirishima, Enterprise, Belfast and I were ordered to bring you back.

Akagi: Shikikan sama, you can't trust Enterprise. Didn't you hear what she said? She has no reservation killing you.

Shikikan: Enterprise would never betray me.

Akagi: Listen to me, I am telling you the truth. You have to believe me, they will use you and then get rid of you.

Shikikan: If they want to kill me then so be it, I don't care and neither should you.

Akagi: How can you ask someone to let they're loved once die?

Shikikan: I am not your lover!

Akagi: No, no, listen to me. You love me too, don't deny your own feelings. I can smell it, you really love me.

Shikikan: No, we are just two people who have never been loved and this is all just a minor infatuation. Had it not been me, you would have fallen for someone else.

Akagi: You.... can't......question.....my love...

Akagi growled. 

She was getting angry. Shikikan in those two days had forgotten that no matter what Akagi says to him, she still was a warship capable of killing him with ease.

Akagi: Shikikan sama...

Akagi took the chains out. But this time Shikikan knew he had to fight back. He took one step back with each step that Akagi took forward.

Shikikan: Akagi...if you come with me, we could really have a future.

Akagi: Shikikan sama, you do know there is no future there.

Shikikan was now standing at the edge of the cave.

Akagi: My love, let's just think of this as a fight between a couple which will only strengthen our love. Just think about it, we can live together happily forever.

Shikikan: Akagi, I am a human and humans aren't meant to live for long, humans for their survival need a goal, a reason because without them we would go insane and die. Staying here with you will eventually kill me and I wasn't chosen to be ascended just to die hiding in an island. I was ascended because I was ready to dedicate my life to eternal war, for the greater humanity. You and I are just a speck of dust in this whole universe, worthless unless we have a reason to live for. You have got your first chance at life and I am at my second. Believe me, Akagi, staying here is no different than being dead, come with me and together we can dedicate our soul to war and each other for an eternity.

Akagi: Shikikan sama... If there is a thing that I have ever learnt from humans is that a man not afraid to lose his life, loses it quickly. I can't let you kill yourself, even if I must keep you chained up forever, I will do it. But I will never let you die and together we will forget about this day and live happily-

Akagi stopped speaking as she sensed something, something familiar, something from her past.

Akagi: No...no...

Akagi ignored Shikikan and looked out at the sea, she saw two warships sailing towards them.

Akagi: Shikikan sama, you have to wear these chains and come with your Akagi. Or else they will take you away. Come on wear those chains... Shikikan sama?

Shikikan didn't submit, he had decided what he had to do. In order to protect Akagi, he must escape. He looked at Akagi and smiled for one last time.

Shikikan: Akagi, I promise, I will bring you back and I will find a way to bring Kaga too...

Saying this he took the final step off the cliff.

Akagi: SHIKIKAN SAMAAAA!!
