The sound of motorcycles could be heard in the distance, the deep rumble of the engines filling the night air. I glanced over at my new friend and saw that his eyes were wide and filled with fear and he looked fixedly at the end of the street. I followed his gaze and was able to make at tiny pinpoints of light that were steadily growing larger as the sounds increased.
"What's the problem?" I asked him curiously.
I hadn't known Walter very long but he seemed like an alright guy so far. His mousy brown hair sticking up wildly combined with his rumpled suit and frantic eyes, he looked like a mad man. But who was I to judge? No one, not after the things I've done.
When Walter didn't answer, only continuing to stare at the approaching machines, I waved my hand in his face. He blinked and looked at me, his face pale.
"Walter, what's wrong?" I tried again, speaking slowly as if to a small child.
Walter visibly swallowed and said, "Those motorcycles belong the the Hellcats."
His voice was barely above a whisper as if just speaking their name was a death wish. I had no idea who the Hellcats were but by the looks of the approaching lights I would soon find out. Walter's reaction made me wonder what made him so afraid of these people. I knew I wouldn't be no matter who they were. There was nothing left in this world to scare me after the things I have seen, the things I have done.
"I'm guessing they aren't friends of yours," I replied, watching as the motorcycles began to materialize from the shadows, illuminated by the street lights. "Why are you so afraid of them?"
"Lena is vicious and unforgiving when angered." His eyes flicked to the motorcycles then back to me. "And it doesn't take much to make her angry."
Sounds like my kind of woman, I thought to myself.
I leaned against the wall, the vibration from the music inside the building making my skin tingle slightly. I watched as the motorcycles flooded into the lot with a roar so loud I felt it beneath my feet. The first bike to pull in was now parked and the silhouette of a woman stood beside it. My eyes roamed her curves, wrapped snug in leather pants and a jacket to match.
However, as soon as she removed her helmet I couldn't stop the growl that erupted from my throat. With a toss of her long black locks, she met my gaze and sent me a flirt smirk. I merely rolled my eyes in response which only caused her to laugh.
The woman made her way towards Walter and I, his body visibly trembling beside me as two of the other women walked behind her.
"Hello, Rashe," the woman greeted me.
"Lena," I replied, my voice and face blank.
"You two know each other?" Walter asked in confusion.
"She's my wife."
