So I'm pissed off, haha. So my mom, whether knowing it or not, is supporting transphobia and I'm pretty fucking upset. So I mentioned to her today about how it was bullshit that trans people couldn't join the military, and I'm in rotc so I absolutely confirm that this is literal bullshit. I'm in rotc, and they don't give a fuck about where you came from, what your sexuality is, what ever the fuck happens with you really, as long as you put service before self, integrity first, and you know are determined to serve your country honestly.
BUT
My mother starts talking about how that it was a choice, how all this was a choice and you should honor your country and shit, if that's what you plan to do, and comply with this new bullshit law, which is once again, absolute fuckery I must say. Why shouldn't you be loyal to yourself and still be loyal to your country? (Which she replied to that you aren't being loyal to yourself and are betraying yourself if you choose to go through a transformation)
Like none of this was a problem 6 years ago, 2 years ago, hell even a couple months before it happened. This wasn't an ongoing problem that the military was having.
(She also said that they were putting themselves at risk because if they went to a foreign country and they suddenly found out that this person was trans that they could get killed just for that, which I responded with that when you go into the military, you know exactly what you're signing up for and you can choose to put yourself at risk if you so please because you want to serve your country, which she responded with that I was picking and choosing what these people can choose to do or not and it's really not. Let's be honest here, if you are deployed to a country like that, you're already at fucking risk because obviously you're not there to make fucking friends tf, they just have one more reason to shoot at you, but their guns were already fucking aimed so what's the point if you're trans or not)
This was put in place because we have a homophobic, transphobic president who is thankfully getting impeached and he did this shit before he was stopped. Like isn't this the land of the free supposedly? Then why can't we be free to choose what gender we want to be and be free to serve our country if we so desire?
So yea, I'm fucking pissed off, and she's just saying that they should just transition after retirement, but no, that's bullshit. You shouldn't have to conform to the wishes of a transphobic asshole.
Yes there are requirements to fit into when going into the military, but since when has your gender ever played into that, why should anyone care if you shoot the same, and fit into regulations, march the same, follow orders, and all that other bullshit. Why should your gender at the beginning of transitioning ever fucking matter?
So yea,that was my little rant because I'm still fucking pissed about this bullshit and I'm either going to blow up at my mom or just ignore her for a while so she actually understands, because she was also making fun of trans people by like saying, why can't it just identify as a dog and bullshit like that which honestly really pissed me off. I support trans people, and if they've felt that they wanted to be whatever gender for a long ass time then why should they be restricted from helping the country that they live in.
I'm mean she says she'll respect me and she'll love me always, but let's say I transition and want to join the military, I wonder if she would be just as supportive of me or if her perspective would change. I'm not transexual but still, it's different when it's someone you know. Also saying sexuality can he heavily influenced by how you grew up can be perfectly false as well, like just because you had a missing father figure doesn't mean you'll be gay, you could have the perfect life and be lesbian or the most shitty life and be straight, so why is it circumstancual
