Kyla Jones

I didn't even go home .. I went straight to a bar.

"May I get another shot please?" I asked the bartender. "Ma'am don't you think that's enough? You're on #10." She said trying to get me to stop. "Yeah you're right thank you." I said rubbing my eyes.

"Hit me again Reese." A man next to me said. "No bro, you had enough. You go home as well." She said to I'm guessing her brother. "She thinks she runs us." He said looking over at me laughing. "Girl you know aint shit in my house but furniture, I lost everything I could possibly want." He said looking down. "Kel they would want you to find love, it's been 3 years and you're on the same shit." She said with a sad face.

"It's hard to find that shit here in Tennessee sis, I'm Kel, the drunk. Hby?" He said holding his hand out. "I'm Kyla, the parentless kid." I half smiled. "Well, I guess we are both going through it. I know this may sound weird but would you like to go with me to get a cup of coffee? We don't need to drive like this." He asked looking at me. "Um I don't know." I said unsure because I didn't know him.

"Look ian no rapist nie, ion get down with that bullshit but I understand, hell I beat a nigga ass in here for trying damn sister. I'm still mad about that shit!" He said frowning. I couldn't help but laugh. I gathered all of my belongings and begin to walk out the door.

"Kyla where are you going?" He yelled. "To the coffee shop, come on now!" I smiled walking out the door. After a while I heard him walking out the door as well.

"Shit it's starting to get cold around this bitch man, I hate this weather. It's close to Christmas why the hell was hot yesterday?" H complained walking. "I know right, that's the fast way to get damn sick." I said shaking my head. "Girl right." He said trying to be funny. Of course my goofy ass thought it was funny.

"Aight so look, these people have known me since I was little and they haven't seen me with anyone but my wife- if you have a wife Kel then why are you with me?" I folded my arms cutting him off. "Girl shut it, my wife and kids died three years ago in a car accident. That's why I call myself a drunk, I can't really let that go you know?" He said scratching his head. "But they will think you are my girlfriend or whatever just ignore they ass." He said grabbing my hand walking into the diner.

"Kel you are making it seem like we are together already." I laughed pointing at him holding my hand. "Oh yeah, you're right." He said letting go. "Let's sit there!" I said seeing a little waterfall and plants next to a seat.

"Really?" He said shocked. "Yeah come on." I said grabbing his arm and walking over there. "This is so beautiful Kel, I can't believe I never been in here, I need to get out more." I said looking at the area. "Yeah this lil spot isn't popular but it's most definitely the best." He said nodding looking around as well. That's really how most businesses are, they only have regulars but they make enough money to keep it open.

"So tell me about Ms. Kyla, it's like you walk around with this big load on your shoulders." He said basically reading me. "I'm not sure why I feel so comfortable with telling you everything but I do but I find it weird. But sit tight because it's a lot." I said as I began telling him about my life.

It really felt amazing to exactly say all of that out loud.

"Gide damn girl, you know how much money your ass could be making off your life story? That's just wow." He said shocked. "I know, just like a lifetime movie." I said looking down. "Nah Kyla lift your head up, I look at you as a strong ass women. You overcame so much bullshit and you're still here. Don't let nobody tell you Yeen worth shit. You mean something girl" he said looking in my eyes holding my hand. By now I was in tears, today has just made me so fucking emotional.
