Chapter 11: Missing heartbeat

It was nearly the end of the shift of Tenn and Riku's along with the other three, but even when the shift is nearly finish, they still were still needed to clear up a few more tables before they could get changed and call it a day.

No one was in the cafe and it wasn't as busy as an hour ago due to it being the work rush they usually have when Tenn works.

Wiping the table clean, Tenn thoughts wanders off as he thought of how happy Riku was when he was interacting with other people and having a warm smile on his face. Maybe he should invite Riku to work again next week? It would be good for Riku and seeing him talking with others would also benefits him.

As Tenn was in his own little world of making Riku happy, at the corner of his eyes, he noticed how Riku was just about to pick up another glass even though his hands were already full and then, he started to wobble starting to lose balance.

"Riku watch out- !" Tenn's reflexes instantly reacted however, turning too fast, he'd forgotten that he was wearing roller skates and slipped up at the moment.

Luckily, Riku managed to placed all the glasses back down on the table knowing he might actually break something but unluckily, Tenn managed to slip colliding with Riku's body and both ending up up on the floor.

Tenn had unintentionally closed his eyes when he and Riku both fell and everything went black for a moment until he realised he was on top of Riku and opened his eyes.

However, as he realised his head was on top of Riku's chest, he also realised one other thing.

There was no heart beat.

Even though Tenn was laying on Riku's chest specifically where the heart usually is, there was no sound, nothing at all.

Tenn eyes widen at the sudden reminder.

Even if Riku seems happy and is smiling when he was taking people's orders, the fact that Riku died still haunts him.

It was his fault after all.

If only if he was to stay with Riku on that day in the hospital and not go to that stupid festival with his parents, Riku would then be saved and would still be living and still be a one big happy family with their parents who left.

He'd forgotten about the part where Riku is not even alive anymore and that when he first reunite wit Riku, he was overjoyed and the fact that Riku was still dead didn't came into his mind until now.

Riku suffered in pain and had taken his last breath on that day, whiles Tenn was laughing joyfully holding his parents hand and went to different stalls and trying out the games and food there.

Feeling how Tenn was still on top of him for a while, Riku tried to sit up but could then hear Tenn's quiet sniffle.

"Tenn-nii?" Riku murmured, his hand was about to reach to Tenn's shoulder and asking if he was alright but before he could even lift his hand up, he felt Tenn pushed himself up and quickly skated off to the staff room.

There was also a few drops of tears when Tenn rushed off and some even landed on Riku's face, he then realised the reason behind Tenn's sudden change and smiled guilty.

"Wha-what happened?" Aoi was the first to ask, everyone except from Tenn and Riku were at the kitchen cleaning up the dished until they heard the thud and thought something was wrong.

Seeing how Riku was sitting on the floor, everyone came closer started asking question worried on what happened and where is Tenn.

"Don't worry, I'm fine." Riku assured. "Me and Tenn will be leaving now but first, can you all not go in the locker room please? Tenn just needs a little time off."
