jeju island, 8:20 AM

"seungkwan, those were like, the best pancakes ever."  hansol says as he slouches back in the chair, hands over his stomach.

seungkwan laughs at him from the other side of the table, still finishing his last pancake.

"seriously though, how?" hansol says.

"uhhh, pancake mix? and besides, i'm not even that good. i burnt the pancakes right in front of your eyes. does that classify as the best?" seungkwan says, laughing.

hansol rolls his eyes. "better than i could ever do."

"shut up."

hansol eyeballs him for a moments before getting up to put his plate in the sink.

"i didn't mean literally. it's quiet as hell when you're not talking." seungkwan says, following hansol's footsteps.

"i don't know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult." hansol deadpans.

"oh my god." seungkwan says, shaking his head. "just forget about it."

hansol says nothing to that, only raising his eyebrow the slightest.

a few seconds of silence before, "hey, hansol! i think it's raining! come look." seungkwan whisper-yells at hansol, who follow obligingly.

and sure enough, when they go to peek out of the blinds, there's droplets of rain obscuring their view of the streets.

"let's hope they don't cancel our flight. it looks like it could storm any second now." seungkwan says as he checks the small window on the front door.

when hansol goes to look, he sees the dark grey clouds in the distance, the rain making small pools of water on the sides of the road, the tree limbs flowing freely in the wind.

he backs away from the window, adjusting the small patterned curtain that was hanging from the top of the door, covering their view of the rain.

"when are we leaving?" hansol asks, not turning away from the window.

"uhm, about 20 minutes, i think."

"okay, maybe the rain will calm down a bit, while we wait."

"yeah, hopefully. what are we gonna do?"

seungkwan thinks for a moment. "did you bring the radio?"

"uhm, no. sorry. i think i dropped it while we were sitting at that bench and never picked it back up. why?"

"just wanted to see if we could try and contact them again." seungkwan says, sighing.

"i don't think they would've answered." hansol says quietly.

"what? why?"

hansol says nothing.

"hey, guys," seungkwan's dad says, suddenly emerging from the corridor, "you guys ready to go? we might want to leave soon, the weather's getting worse."

the duo exchange a look before seungkwan says, "sure. we need to get our shoes from upstairs, though. we'll be down in a minute."

"okay, i'll be in the car." his dad says as he fills a travel mug with coffee.

                                         ..........

20 minutes later and they're still in the car.

they left about ten minutes ago, and are now stuck in traffic. they can see the airport though, which is good. they're making progress.

the rain hasn't stopped, which isn't good. actually, it's gotten worse.
